Should of got rid of that ugly bezel while they were at it.

The new 11" Dell has a 13" screen with barely any bezel at all.
Maybe Apple will achooley go that route.

So as I read more about wireless everything in the Skylake world - I really think a typical air user won't need any wires - video/power/peripheral or otherwise. That makes a ton of sense - and makes for a sleek laptop experience.

It also makes me see the possibility of a convertible device that can use the same screen for either an iPad in iPad mode, or laptop screen in laptop mode... because - why not? I always thought a Surface is kind of compelling - just not quite right. A new hybrid device would be just the b@!%^slap at Microsoft Apple is looking for.

I'll use Apple products when they wake up to what their passive inaction is perpetuating, and move manufacturing back to the west. Ah, wait - no I won't - I'm more than happy with my £35 Lenovo Core 2 Duo PC, Moto G and my Tesco Hudl tablet, and with lots of change in my pocket.

When will the fascination with thinness over functionality finally end?

This honestly looks like a chromebook; who ever complained that the MacBook air wasn't thin enough anyway? If anything, they should shrink the bezels, make it fanless and add a retina display. Combined with the current features of the MacBook air (USB 3, MagSafe, thunderbolt and all day battery), it would be one KILLER laptop.

Yes, exactly! Don't ruin the MBA... Just make an already outstanding laptop even better. If that means it becomes too much like the MPB, then drop the MPB. This is starting to reek of dumbing down a computer that's getting too good, just to preserve differentiation in their range. I have both a 13" MBP and an 11" MBA. The MBA is always my "go to" machine. The MPB is like a clumsy brick in comparison.

It doesn't seem very "apple" but maybe it'll ship with a dock. This could be a nice bridge between mobile "casual" notebook and pro end work. When you're editing video or songs or reviewing the 1,000 .raw images from the days shoot you're probably near a desk and could just dock it. However, when in the go you want the biggest battery possible and *probably* don't carry around four devices to plug into it...

Would love if my MBA was closer in terms to MBP when I'm at home but don't use that kind of usage enough to buy a $2k iMac or something... And I'll never trade the razor thing and lightweight MBA.

It's odd that a Chinese company would make their Core 2 PC in the west... But bravo to them for bucking the trend!

Interesting, but they got them the wrong way around: the headphone port goes on the LHS and the USB port on the RHS.

Most earphones will wrap around your head from left to right, so it makes sense that the port is on the left to avoid it trailing across the keyboard as you're working. Current MacBooks all have it on the left. I can't remember a MacBook with a headphone port on the right.

Similarly, studies suggest that somewhere between 70 and 90% of the world's population is right-handed. Surely it makes most sense for the USB port then to be on the right, where it can easily handle, say, a USB mouse for a right-handed person?

Pointlessly thin base - just have a bigger battery. The base needs to be heavier than the screen for stability. Even prising it open becomes a two handed operation if the base is too light.

Pointlessly small screen. Landscape paper A4.

This is Apple, we're talking about - aesthetics >>> ergonomics.

I think it's funny that most if not all "renderings" of new Apple products all have small or non-existent bezels.

Come on people, Apple loves those bezels. They won't get rid of them.

Consumers don't pay attention to the fact that the iPhone 6 and 6+ are some of the biggest phones for their screen size. They only care about thinness.

You do realize that your "preferred" products are made in factories likely with even less-ideal conditions. The only reason that Apple is in the spotlight is because of the tremendous volume that they move through factories, nothing more.

How many of your products were made "in the west", as you put it? Hmmm?

Almost all left-handed people use the mouse with their right hand, leaving the more dextrous left hand for the keyboard where it's useful. Although surely you'd be using a bluetooth mouse with a laptop like this, wouldn't you?
