9to5Mac reports that it has now received pricing information from reliable source "Mr. X" on the part number for the updated Apple TV revealed last week, with the new model coming in at the same $99 price as the current model.
The Apple TV J33 model, MD199LL/A - J33 BEST -USA, which we've covered before will come in at the same $99 price point (and similar prices globally). We know from previous reports that it will have updated hardware internally including Bluetooth 4.0 Broadcom chip as well as a higher powered processor capable of 1080P video.

It will likely look the same with similar ports otherwise, though that hasn't been confirmed.
The report also offers a price for the unknown product carrying a code name of "B82" that surfaced last week, with the item coming in at $39. It is likely to be an accessory of some sort for one of the major product launches coming tomorrow, but its identity remains unknown.

Will it still down sample / upsample all music to 16bit / 48 kHz?

If not - and it's able to play 24bit/96 Apple lossless I'm totally buying it.

Wow... I'm not usually a complainer but... 1080P? Not that it needs much more but... that's it? I don't know, I guess it's better than no update. I can definitely live with 720P if thats all it offers over the current gen.

Edit: This rating system is whack. God forbid I have an opinion to express that doesn't involve me getting on my knees for Apple.

$39 accessory....? Put my bet on a new case of some sorts. Variant/update to the smart cover.

This is probably temporary, and by that I mean this product will be discontinued. They're obviously working on the new Apple Television which will eventually replace the Apple TV.

$39 HDMI Dongle for iPad HD airplay mirroring?

That would be AMAZING. I hope that we one day get this!

I agree. If that's the only new feature, I'll skip it.

Agreed. I only have a 720P TV so this really makes no difference to me. Plus I can't really tell a big difference between 720P and 1080P on a TV my size anyway. (40")

This means 1080p video content to the iTunes store. Hope streaming quality is still good

My thoughts exactly.

I've been saying it since the beginning, B82 will be an Apple designed pressure sensitive stylus for the iPad 3 that will work off the iPad 3's Bluetooth 4.0. Mark my words!

If you already have an Apple TV 2nd generation, why would you want to buy a new one anyway? Your not the target. Apple aims to sell these new ATV to new consumers, not people who already have a 1.5 years old ATV.

How would this be different from the existing dock to HDMI adapter? I don't remember if you can mirror the iPad's display with it, but that would be a software feature anyway.

1080p?

Ho-fricking-hum... at least until I bother with a 50"+ panel, an appropriate viewing distance and a slightly tighter anal orientation. Endow the ATV2.5 with apps and then we'll talk about replacing my current ATV2.

And no, I won't be buying the "Old Yeller"* from Apple.

*the Siri enabled television that you have to "yell" at to to get it to do anything.

Please let B82 be a stylus with handwriting recognition in an app designed by Apple. I'd gladly pay $39 for it!

The "Newton App"? Wow, my pants are about to explode... and I don't mean the front side.

I hope they made some serious tweaks to the GUI and performance, maybe add 3rd party apps.

If its just a resolution update, it's still a no go in my book.

If it can run apps from the App store, definitely want! Running Plex on it without Jailbreaking would be great.

$99 Apple TV can be like the Mac Mini. Bring your own TV and speakers. Could sell well, even if the price increased later on with new features.

I think he means a HDMI dongle you plug into a tv that acts as an airplay receiver for iPad mirroring.
