Definitely... it's a side effect for having to wait this long. Sorry! :D
The $80 smart cover is obviously profitable.
Definitely. According to previous rumors, the same SmartCovers will fit the iPad 3, so there's no need for new part numbers.
A regular case like the original Apple iPad Case would make a better guess, as the price is the same ($39.00).

Just 13 hours and 13 minutes more and we will know for sure! :D

I have an iPhone, MBP, and soon to be iPad. I like downloading movies on the net. Right now, I have to download movies to a hard drive and watch them on an Xbox in .avi, and it's a crapshoot on whether or not it works.

Time for AppleTv?

yup, convert them with iVI best solution. other than buying your media.

I might eat my words tomorrow, but I don't think that Apple will make a case for iPad again after their comments on cases when the smart cover was introduced.

This is probably temporary, and by that I mean this product will be discontinued. They're obviously working on the new Apple Television which will eventually replace the Apple TV.

Why would they discontinue this? There are too many customers like me already with HD TVs that probably wouldn't buy an Apple TV to replace my existing one, and I'm looking at an Apple TV. If I buy an Apple-branded Television, it'd be to replace a non-HD TV. I think that's a majority of the market-you're not dealing with computers here, and short of some sort of programming interaction, I don't see how or why someone who has a TV would buy an Apple TV. But I may be wrong...

$39.99 Optional Controller..... BAM!!!!!!!! MEGA BOMB.... Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft just lost the console wars..

$4.99 console quality games on the Apple TV

i think thats the way to go, new controllers to play without iPads iPhone iPods, thats why it now has bluetooth.

As someone with a 52 inch 1080p plasma television-it looks like I'll finally be purchasing the rumored 1080p Apple TV!

It would be I icing on the cake if the rumored Apple TV came with Hulu plus.

That's also true, but considering how much useful the original case is when compared to the SmartCover, I'm hoping they change their mind.

On the other hand, it's a shame having to cover such a beautiful piece of engineering under a vinyl cover.

Just open it up to the app store...Give me netflix, hulu plus, and plex and i'll switch over from my roku 2 no problem.

I've been saying it since the beginning, B82 will be an Apple designed pressure sensitive stylus for the iPad 3 that will work off the iPad 3's Bluetooth 4.0. Mark my words!

Dream on. Apple will never make a stylus.

AppleTV Jailbreak + Plex would solve your problem.

And either a networked hard drive or an Airport Extreme with a few external hard drives attached via a USB Hub.

As in keeping wit the nature of the current beast. Everything Within the State, Nothing Outside the State. What color is your name affiliated with?

Maybe the new accessory is a real remote control. Now that Steve Jobs is gone we might be allowed to have a remote with 10 or 11 buttons instead of 5 or 6

Apps

Will be stunned if it doesn't have 3rd-party apps. Last device not to have Apps that should, tv manufacturers are including them in their tvs, infrastructure is there, developers are ready, Apple want their cut, what's stopping it from happening?

Facetime HD camera integrated too?

Why do I get the feeling that there won't be any interface changes for the ATV? Getting ridiculous with all these other devices, like Roku and Samsung smart TVs, having apps and Apple's offering doesn't have any. They INVENTED the app store for heaven's sake!

Simple solution...

I have an iPhone, MBP, and soon to be iPad. I like downloading movies on the net. Right now, I have to download movies to a hard drive and watch them on an Xbox in .avi, and it's a crapshoot on whether or not it works.

AppleTV won't work with AVI, or any other non-Apple format, they deliberately limit their devices to work only with formats that can be made with Apple products. If you want to go AppleTV you'll need to jailbreak it and stick on an updated firmware that lets you play different formats.

Or if you don't want to go to all that trouble just hook the MBP up to the TV.

I used to try the XBox avi trick, even bought a program for the Mac that lets me stream stuff directly to the XBox via the built in media sharing interfaces. But it never really worked right because some files were encoded to work on an X-Box and other weren't, it was always a pain to figure out which was which.

So I hooked my iMac to the TV and Surround Sound in the family room on an end table next to my recliner, movies look great on the "second" screen (barring Lion's stupid "full screen" issue, use VLC or MPlayerX to get around it) and I can use the built in screen to keep working while I've got the movie / video playing on the TV.

The adapters aren't that expensive so give it a shot, though depending on the distance you'll probably need an extension (you should be able to find a cheap extension cable online or even locally if you avoid the big chain stores who'll try to sell you a $300.00 Monster Cable). Still, once its hooked up and working you'll probably like it and the price of an adapter and cable is going be cheaper than AppleTV, not to mention the Mac will play whatever you throw at it without needing to transcode it first.
