Where is the Tumblr app for the iPad?

For such an innovative company, it's stunning they don't get the power of native apps, and are trusting crappy 3rd party apps with their brand experience.

Probably someone on their Board or management team has some ideological issues and still doesn't get that native apps are going win, at least in the short term.

I don't want a better spyware app from Facebook.

Come on Tumblr. Get with this century.

Personally, I'd like to see Tumblr & Instagram get onboard.

Tumblr HAS an iPhone app, I've been using it for almost ever, it does like to crash after 3-4 pages on my iPod, but that's a RAM issue.

~EDIT~
Email their support about this issue Support@tumblr.com

We're looking for Tumblr for iPad. Not iPhone. Thanks.

even push is unreliable, even worse since they got rid of the option to turn off the chat. sometimes i'm apparently seen online when i'm not even on facebook or i get randomly messages on my iPad AND iPhone which are supposed to be only chat convos on my laptop. sooooo annoying!

Facebook is listed in the 'Great Apps for New iPad' section of the Australian store.
As far as I can tell, every other app in this section is Retina enabled.
Either fb have a magic advertising deal, or an update (with promised timeline support) is imminent.

I don't really use Facebook anyway. I have an account but that was just to get in touch with an old friend that had moved away. The app is very limited for sure.

I have to agree with everyone's gripes about the fb app. Both the iPhone and iPad version.

My biggest beef is notifications. They have always been terrible. I get about 5% of my notifications sent to my iPhone. None get sent to the iPad. When I get home from work and look at my computer I'll see I had a ton throughout the day that the phone app never told me about.

The ui is crap, the photos are always causing crashes. I'd have to say that Facebook is the biggest POS app that I stil use on a daily basis.

I agree with the general consensus. The FACEBOOK APP SUCKS!! Its the worst app of all time.

Its less user friendly than the website and crashes a lot.

What really bugs me about it is when someone sends you a friend request and you click on the person I can't find anyway to see our common friends. This is easy to do on the website.

Who cares about retina support if its worse than the website. Facebook, why even bother with this app if you can't be bothered to make it as good or better than the website?

I can deal with the iphone app a lot more than the ipad app. The ipad app sucks. I have several pages (for different purposes) and on the ipad app, I can't upload a photo with comments on any page other than my personal page. (I can on the iphone app). I also cannot comment on anyone else's photo on one of my pages, except my personal page.

Sharing is impossible on the app, and tagging someone is impossible too. I'm not talking about the location feature where I can say that I'm at the movies with so and so, I'm talking about simply tagging someone else in a post or a comment.

Facebook, why can't you make this work?

The FB app is riddled with "features". Like none of your FB contacts not coming up when you want to tag.

And yes, I've done everything but restore my iPhone as a new phone, lol.

still nothing.. this is rediclious the new ipad has been out how many weeks now and no update for facebook.. i am not surprised tho based on how long it took them just to get a app out for the ipad.. they said timeline support soon though and its well long after soon in my book.

No, they said timeline January.

The fb app on my iPhone seems to have more function then my iPad. I am one of those few people who like timeline but it only works on my iPhone and then there other problems as listed above. Why is the app on my iPad not as good as my phone makes you kind of wonder.

Makes you wonder what useless slackasses the facebook devs are? Yea

The overall adoption rate of Retina graphics for iPad has been dismal at best, and has contributed to an overall very disappointing iPad launch. Combine that with the fact that so Many people (myself included) are struggling with defective iPad screens, indicating a greater than normal rate of defects. Apples quality control has not only slipped dramatically with this new iPad, but they were content to launch it with barely any compatible content.

To add to that, this super high res screen accomplishes little besides making text sharp. Yes, this is important, but perhaps not at the expense of every graphic and image on the entire web. This might be the final straw the drives people away from Safari and into Apps (as we all know Apple desires greatly).

Don't let the vocal minority here cloud your vision.

100 people online with issues complaining can look like a flood, but is a microscopic number compared to the millions sold.

Retina is a huge step if your are big on reading and have good eyesight. Its personal opinion. If its not big to you, then the ipad is the better economical choice.

As far as I can tell, the screen on my new iPad is functioning properly. I like the sharper text, as I read a lot. I've never liked Safari and don't use it on my iMac or the Macbook Pro I had. I've tried Safari on my iPhone 4S and on my new iPad and my opinion hasn't changed...Safari is fourth-rate, at best.

I think you missed my point. Retina is a huge step, and this iPad screen is amazing, save for its defects. I've been aware of vocal minorities for a long time and through every Apple product launch. For the first time, the iPad 3rd gen launch seems to be marred with an extremely high rate of defective screens. Everything from green and pink and yellow tinting on the screen, to horrible viewing angles and dead pixels.

Not your typical yellow-screen-while-glue-is-drying situation, or acceptable level of occasional dead pixels.

My iPad, which needs to be replaced when somehow I find the time, has massive color shifting problems when tilted away from the face. Meaning, if you hold the iPad parallel to your face, it looks normal, and then tilt it 5 degrees backward, and watch the color shift from normal to a horrid grey/yellow tinge over the entire screen. Bad. iPad 2 doesn't do that, and neither do properly functioning iPad 3.

The iPhone app is pretty great IMO. The iPad version is abysmal.

something tells me we wont see an app update till everyone has been switched over to timeline.. hence the timeline support for ipad. if we do get a update before everyone is switched to timeline it would only include retina support.. i want both features.. therefore im not expecting an update for several more weeks or even months :(
