it would seem silly to release a new product just as or after a new OS is coming out, it would just be a hassle for all the owners to upgrade.
The perfect time to release a new product is when a new OS is being introduced, because they will all ship with Tiger. Owners won't have to upgrade.

Are they still comming?

Is it just me or shouldn't we have heard additional information on these rumors considering the announcements are supposed to take place in 3 days????

However, some of us actually want to upgrade. As a freshly baked OS, this Tiger is probably not gonna be the most stable Mac OS there is. So if April 1st is the annoucement, some of us would actually enter the market and get a hardware (a PB most likely, since the rest are really due for updates) with nice stable panther. And still have the coupon to upgrade to Tiger for a dirt-cheap price 2 weeks later. So we get 2 OSes. Best of both world!

Actually this may be a lousy plan, anyway I'm quite a goofy character. :D

Yes, I have also noticed how little hype there has been surrounding this. Rumor sites have only had the "iMac shipping dates"and "Updated iMacs and eMacs in April" stories.

Perhaps Rev B won't be out till late April?

It seems that the lawsuit by Apple against Think Secret is working. Seems like a logical explanation as to why we aren't getting the usual rumors.

My advice has always been to wait at least 3 months after an upgrade so all the door crasher bugs are worked out first. We don't want another 10.2.8 fiasco.

Do you mean an upgrade to the hardware, or an OS upgrade?

If i had the money and if my PC was older i would buy straight away.

What bugs there will be on a new OS are normally small affairs, Bug Killing goes from largest first and then down.

Also the slowed retail release of Tiger compared to previous OS X release will result in a much lower bug count and well as more Tiger native apps avaible sooner rather than later.

In keeping with this thread. The next release of the eMac & iMac will be an update. So any prior bugs will be fixed with this release. Many like to purchase Rev. B for that reason. iMac will be a Rev. B update.

Is it a fact that, in a Rev. B iMac, the midplane issues, screen issues, and noise issues will no longer exist? I'm hoping we at least see major improvements. :)

Maybe 1 or 2 of those will be fixed? Maybe all? There's no "guarantee" that the Rev. B iMac G5s will have been fixed so that all of the issues the Rev As have had though, is there?

But is it likely?

Amazed at the lack of information on new products

I am a switcher ( and a very happy one) and I am amazed at the lack of information available about the new iMac (Rev B). What does Steve Job's do to keep this information secret? Here we are 2 days from the rumored announcement about the release of Tiger and a new iMac and nothing, NADA, has escaped the walls. The only encouraging item is the release of the final code and perhaps going gold "soon." Job's must have the biggest fist in the world because he has all these employees by the you know what...:)

I am a newbie to Apple and can't wait for my new iMac (to supplement my new PB 17) loaded with Tiger to arrive in the FedEx truck. But I still cannot believe that nothing other than rumors are still the only information this close to a major release of anything.

I hope we are all not disappointed... :(

my guess is that there will never be a dual processor in imacs. the only way that this would happen would be if there was a big fat wall that processors hit. i think that imacs will continue to ride the increase in mhz single processor style.

imacs need better graphics cards, a bump on processor speed, optical drive bumps and tiger...anything else really? no - nothing realistic at least.

I believe there will be dual core processors in the iMac or atleast in a high end model.

Whether we are disappointed or not will depend on what we are expecting. Over the years, I've learned that it's best to not have any expectations. That way there won't be disappointment.

It's the vision of Steve that we applaud. Part of that vision is his control over all aspects of Apple. I think that there is a pride among Apple employees to keep the secret also.

MPC7448 part of Quad Processor Super Computer

For a mere $15,000 you to can have a super computer powered by four of the latest G4 chips. Now that the e600 core, 7448 chip has been confirmed, might Apple include them in the next iBook, eMac or Mac-Mini? iMac will still be G5 based I would think.
