Murphy's law dictates they won't release it in June.

I start a new job in July. So they'll have to buy me that MBP with 3-year old internals and I get to use it for the next three years while everybody gets the new shiny and fast one. :(

That's what always happens to me. I got one shortly before the first Unibody and one shortly before the first Retina model.

This is probably a case of mistaken identity if true. Apple is not going to release new MBA's and especially not a 15" model. No, these are probably the new rMBP's in 13" and 15" models that are thinner than the current MBA's - as the leaked chassis photos corroborate.

Agreed. No reason to offer a 15" MacBook Air.

And if you are going to announce any piece of hardware at a WWDC, MacBook Pros (and Mac Pros) are the ones you want to announce since they are the machines most likely used by MacOS and iOS developers.

I gave up waiting for a new MBA and got a Surface Book instead. It's a little wonky, but I am getting used to it. And the pen and fabulous touch screen make it definitely worth the few extra bucks. The current MBA is so dated I couldn't bring myself to spend a grand on it.

I can see a scenario where Apple casually announces a USB-C MBP -- either at WWDC or just by press release -- but no major case changes. Call it MBP Mid 2016. Then in then fall completely revamp the case with the OLED bar but only minor performance tweaks. Call it MBP Late 2106. Apple has done similar before so not out of the realm.

I just see the WWDC being laser focused on the 4 OSes and there are so many to cover and only two hours max. Take out the usual pre-opening fluff about how eco-sensitive Apple is, or how great Apple Music is doing, that leaves maybe 25 minutes per OS. No time for hardware. Plus WWDC of late has not been a hardware showcase. If Apple show off an new h/w update it seems the Mac Pro would be the logical choice being it's a bit crusty again.

The best part is, no one knows if this is about the 13" air or 13" pro that's like the air. Shows you just how intuitive product names have become under Cook

Agree. Apple should never have brought MacBook back. It should have been the next gen Air. Then it would be an easy choice for consumers feather weight, ultra-portable Air, or light, but still full featured Pro. Apple just invites so much confusion as it is now.

I can't see them announcing an updated MBP just to announce an even more updated MBP a handful of months later. Too much inventory and customers who bought the Mid-model would be livid when the Late-model shipped.

I think they could do it in less than ten minutes - spend two to three minutes talking about the benefits (thinner, lighter, faster) and the rest on how developers can use the OLED bar.

The Air is really still around just so Apple can hit the $1000 price point. As soon as they can get the MacBook to that, they'll kill the Air, IMO.

On the bright side you are getting a product that has most of the bugs out

It wouldn't be crusty if nMP was fully upgrade able internally and externally.

If Apple removes the magsafe from the macbook pro I will be very very disappointed

Although recently bought a new macbook pro mid 2015 model, but if apple gets rid of magsafe I'm not sure i would buy it, no matter how fast it will be, or no matter what new features it will have, i don't think I would go for it.

Also, as I read, macbook air will get an update, it will be thinner, larger, lighter and have USB C ports, the only thing that differentiate it from the retina macbook will be, well, the retina display.

I don't think Apple should even consider releasing a new non-retina device, if they add a retina display to the macbook air, I don't see the difference between it and the macbook... They might as well get rid of the macbook.

4 USB-C ports is just about manageable. But as it looks like replacing 5 ports on my 15" rMBP (Magsafe, 2 Thunderbolt, 2 USB), all of which I use, I would prefer more. Especially if it also replaces HDMI. The ports are so small it shouldn't be an issue fitting them in.

Something similar happened to me. I started a new job and got what was basically the last of the pre-Broadwell PCs (it was an HP). So in 2013 I was using a supposedly high end laptop that got about 3 hours of battery life. If I had joined two months later I would have gotten a laptop with acceptable battery life.

Sadly I dropped it about a year later and they had to buy me a new one. This Toshiba ain't good, but at least I don't have to worry about it running out of juice.

I prefer the MacBook Air above the MacBook. The MB is better in two ways: 1. Retina, 2. thinner. The MBA is better for me in the following 10 ways: 1. Three additional hours of battery life. 2. Thanks to the MBA being more powerful, you'll probably double the MB battery life in certain situations. 3. More powerful. 4. Larger display (13.3" is the smallest laptop I would own). 5. MagSafe. 6. More ports without need for dongle. 7. SD-card. 8. Better value for money (MB starts at €1,499 here). 9. I prefer the MBA keyboard. 10. Increased ability to leave charger at home and reduce carry weigh for 2-day trips (and yes, I do this all the time with my MBA and it's great).

Give give me the existing MBA with an updated proc., Retina and USBc. Leave everything else. I'll pay for it. The alternative is a thinned out MBP, but I know MagSafe, SD-card and other goodies will go. Progress? :-(

I ordered an iPhone SE, space gray, 64 GB three weeks ago. Was out of stock, still hasn't shipped. At this rate, they can announce the next three generations of laptops next week and then simply go on doing nothing for half a year, then start trickling them out one by one. Delaying shipments is also a good way to save money. Ask for the market price on announcement day, only start shipping when the oem prices have come down by 50%. Profit.

There's no way. The MBA is dead. The fact that they updated it without adding force touch trackpad is all you need to know.

There will be new thinner MBP pros and the rMB with replace the Air.
