I'm happy with the refresh. Works just as well as a remote for iTunes and remote for Apple TV. The "Up Next" feature is super nice! Pleased!

You should just updated everything and sell your old junk on eBay, I don't think anything older than a year old makes any sense to hold onto. Update update update!

Oh wow all hail the God of Consumerism and Mindless Spending

I thought it would be stupidly simple and ugly like the rest of iOS 7, but it's not bad. Does anyone know if the Apple TV control features like the trackpad thing are still there with the same or better capabilities?

I have a 2008 Mac Pro. You mad? :D

In continuing a recent spat of horrible upgrades (Pages, anyone?) the 'UpNext' features is horrendously implemented. Please, PLEASE, tell me I'm missing something. When scrolling by Artist, you can't add a single album to the 'Add to Up Next' you can only add the entire artist library (unlike on iTunes on OSX).

What the hell is the point of adding this feature if you can't even select the album you want to play next? For instance, I'm sitting around with some folks listening to music.....I don't want every Radiohead album in my 'up next' list, I only want 'OK Computer' to be added. Nope, can't do that from Artist view. Now, instead of scrolling by artist, which is the logical way to look for music, I have to scroll by Album and then add it that way.

What gives? Why even upgrade this software? And no iRadio support? Apple is losing its wits.

As much as I hate to be this guy... I have to say...

Does the "simpler" Remote app mean I can no longer sort albums in alphabetical order (i.e., it is now fairly impossible to find live music starting with YYYY-MM-DD, i.e., standard collector naming convention)?

And does the little line in the screenshot's progress bar indicate they have also broken scrubbing in the Remote app, as they have in the Music app? Try swiping your finger up and keeping your place... I dare you. But it works the same as the broke ass Podcast app, so it is indeed super simple!

I love the new design! Works great!!!

Also, I jest in saying this... But they finally let the sole employee that works on this app update this!!!! They didn't forget about it (like iBooks). :D

There is absolutely NO REASON why the Music app shouldn't look like this remote app. In my mind, it is simply staggering and unfathomable. Apple is all about continuity, yet these 2 apps look completely different. And the remote app is light years better. I really hope Apple changes the music app to match the look and functionality of the remote app, because it is just better plain and simple. Not trying to be so dramatic but its almost unthinkable that there is such a discrepancy between the two.

The lack of iTunes Radio support is a terrible oversight. I can only hope they plan to add it ASAP. Ridiculous. Streaming from my Mac is way more stable and reliable than airplay from an iOS device. Come on Apple.

Glad it got an update. It looks really nice.

Still waiting on iBooks and Find My Friends which are the two ugliest apps. Of course they left those updates until last lol

Hey did we figure out if this can used in landscape mode yet?

Yes we did. Someone said iphone: no, ipad: yes.

I agree that it looks a lot nicer than the Music app, but I use Spotify when I listen to music anyway. I'm still disappointed that iTunes Radio isn't similar in features to Spotify. :( Maybe they will add another, higher paid tier that lets you pick songs. Although that would be a pretty big update. Maybe for iOS 8.

This is the best remote app I have ever used. Seriously it's so good it's almost worth buying an iOS device for just to take control of your in-home entertainment. Only Apple could give away an update like this for free.

Great news! The keyboard function on mine stopped working a while back for some reason. Pretty much the only reason why I use the app, to make typing in searches easier. Looking forward to checking out the new design and taking this for a spin when I get home from work!

This looks amazing, especially the black iOS 7 theme. Fingers crossed we get an OS-wide version of it soon!

But why was this app given a top-notch UX overhaul while the native Music app appears to be half-baked? Apple got to where they are today via the iPod, and I can barely use my iPhone as an iPod anymore, because the Music app has so many problems. I actually had to buy an iPod Touch just so I could have the iOS 6 Music app, because I make a lot of on-the-go playlists, and the new app is so bad (and I can't downgrade my iPhone 5S). They need to re-overhaul the Music app to be more in line with this new Remote app.

A few examples of what's wrong with the iOS7 Music app:
  • When adding songs to a playlist, you can't choose songs from another playlist. Only options are Songs, Artists, Albums, or - get this - Composers. The Playlists button is gone. It looks like somebody just screwed up, because the Playlists button is still available everywhere else in the interface; but if that's the case, it should have been fixed by now.
  • No longer an "add all songs" option, for when you want to add an entire album (or playlist) to a playlist.
  • When viewing playlists, you can only see the first 15-20 characters because of the large album art, which is only representative of the first track in the playlist (totally useless). So my date-specific playlists look like this: 2013.08.16 Baseba...
  • In landscape you're presented with a useless grid of album covers. Why not just reformat the controls, in case I happen to want to use my music app in landscape? The grid view is completely useless.
  • The AirPlay button is missing.
  • The white iOS 7 interface is terrible in the dark.
  • When editing a playlist, sometimes it is reverted to an earlier version. You can actually see the tracks move around randomly on the screen. It's an iTunes Match-related bug, but still an issue only in the Music app.

Apple used to be the UX leader - very logical, well thought out decisions went into placing every button and widget, and everything was consistent across the board. I really hope this was just a fluke because of the massive overhaul that went into creating iOS 7. I'm starting to lose faith (coming from a long-time fan of Apple products). If they can get things back in line, they should be ok, but if they continue down this path of releasing half-baked and inconsistent apps, I may start looking elsewhere.

Never understood why this app was any different design-wise than the Music app.

This app simply does not make sense. What's happening with their designs ?

Plus, we can't even access the lyrics anymore.

At least we still got a great design team on the Mac ...

iOS 7 dark theme, please come soon!

I am seriously annoyed that the remote is white now. I don't want a bright screen in my hand when I'm watching a movie. Hopefully they will update this with a night mode or something. Anyone else bothered by this?

Really happy that the remote feature allows us to queue up songs with the "Up Next" feature. Why in the world is this not a part of the Music app??? It defies explanation why such a great feature was just ignored in iOS 7.

Apple has a weird idea of feature parity.
If they do it, it's painfully often delayed.
And worst of all, commonly praised as new feature in keynotes (technically, on that specific device, yes, a new feature, but it should have been there earlier)

I get how they probably shift engineers around teams to make this happen and such, but boy... You'd think Apple had the resources to do all that more gracefully and most importantly not wait ONE year to bring sorrowfully missed but otherwhere found (read: teasing) feature.

Reminders app, it took you so long to come to my Mac with Mountain Lion back then. Why?
