4.1 didn't fix anything for me. Worthless.

Downgrading to 4.0.2. Hope this stupid battery drain + proximity sensor is really fixed in the next update whenever that comes!

EDIT: This is BS!! I never knew you CAN'T downgrade firmwares officially! Gives me some warning message saying device is not eligible for this build! So does that mean we're locked in 4.1?!?

Whats the point of a replacement?

Same phone model + Same software version = Same problem

Im just trying to see the logic behind spending the time to do this when the new device will most certainly suffer from the same thing.

The point of a replacement is the hope that there was some sort of hardware change from the older iPhone 4 to the newer builds and it seems like there may actually be some truth to that.

I did end up going in and exchanging the phone and I see a big difference now, at least so far. In the 15 or so calls I've made today, not once did the screen come on while on the call.
Also, I can now clearly see the proximity sensor lit up red whereas it did not do that on the iPhone I returned to Apple. Both iPhones were running software 4.1.

Maybe my face is not normal but if my phone is touching my cheek then the top of the phone where the sensor is located is not against my ear. If the phone is not placed to your ear like a phone should be then your ear is not covering the proximity sensor then the screen is going to come on.

Maybe you have a big head? It's placed against my ear.

I stopped by the Apple store today and they determined that it wasn't supposed to do that and gave me a new one. Unfortunately, it wasn't updated and I don't have my laptop with me(It's broken too...) , so I'm waiting for it to downloaded on my crowded Friday night cable internet...
