No.

The only time a new iMac and new Cinema Display were announced together was July 2010, when the 27" ACD was launched along with an updated iMac. However, the 27" iMac launched in October 2009 (the ACD was 24" at the time).

Tell me you looked that up and didn't do it from memory.

The online uk store is fully stocked, I'm hopng the refresh comes soon because £1500 notes for a 27" imac is burning a hole in my pocket lol.:D

And I would be crushed if a refresh came out a few weeks after me buying one.

I holding out until the iMac is refreshed, it will be after Christmas when I'll be in a position to buy one. It will be my first Mac, has I've been a Windows user for 10 years, quite looking forward to the change to be honest.

A Crazy Thought! ...What IF??

I just had that crazy thought. What if Apple was preparing ...an "iMac Touch"! So far, the idea of having a retina display on a screen working at an arm's length distance did not seem too worthwile. Now, what do these retina display ALSO do? Yes, they can be touch-responsive as well. I could envision a 20"+ iMac with a lower swivel standso that it could face up at a greater angle and would need to be closer to the user's eyes, thus the advantage, and the only one I can see, for a large retina display on a forthcoming iMac Touch. Crazy thought...What do you think?

Never been a fan of having a computer with touch control. An iPad, iPhone yes, but not a home computer. Call me old fashioned, but when it comes to a computer, I don't think you can beat controlling them with a mouse, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Stop looking at stock levels on store by store basis. We've all been there of course but it's fool's gold. When we're on the cusp of a new release, we'll know about it. There will be leaks of official inventory numbers etc.

Try it - you might like it.

I use a Windows 8 multi-touch laptop - much of the time it's mouse/keyboard - but it's very nice to be able to scroll/shrink/enlarge/"click submit" by touching the screen.

Seriously, if you have a touch screen phone, how many times have you poked the screen on your laptop? Wouldn't it be nice if it "just worked" and did what you touched?

I don't have a laptop just a Windows desktop PC, but too be honest I've never went to poke the screen on it. Don't get me wrong I really like touch screen, I find the touch screen on iOS devices is superb, but when it comes to computers where there are times when you need fine control, for example, you might want to zoom in on a photo to edit a very small part of it. I find then the mouse can give me the control that I want whilst doing this.

Also the inevitable finger marks are perhaps going to get in the way of the fine detail in the picture, yeah I could wipe the screen but its just more to do that I wouldn't have to do if I was controlling with a mouse. :)

I need a new iMac... but when?

I live abroad and I'm really looking forward for my trip to US at mid October to buy my new iMac, just sold mine yesterday :(

For what is worth, B&H Photo Video has a big shortage on 21.5 and 27 inch iMacs, see for yourself:

They usually handle good stock since they are a Photographer's store... let's see if this is a good indicator of a soon to be announced iMacs.

There is no hard evidence that new Mac computers are coming soon. Apple has abandoned the PC business in favor of IOS products.

It's a shame they cant act like a normal PC maker like Dell and update on time. Pretty clear it is a strong possibility they will phase out the iMac and Mac Pro pretty soon. Guessing it will be Airs and RMBP's and thats it.

iToys wont last forever and I for one hope MS slaughters them on tablets and the iPhone will lose steam over time. This limited approach does not work unless you update regularly and have solid choice and price points. Some reason they dont get that if they make it, it will sell.

Who else sells a lot of AIO PC's? Who else sells gimmicky mini style PC's by large #'s? Only Apple.

Definitely the most ignorant comment I've read on here recently.

In 10 days from now we will have news about the upcoming iMac line which it will debut in october. No retina display and no ssd pre-installed. They will mainly have updated specs and new thinner panels in order to solve iMacs reliability display problems of 2009s lineup. Prices will be the same (around +50$ higher).

Will they be available?

Once they're finally out (oh, glorious day!), what do you expect their availability to be? Is there going to be a wait list?

I am will to bet you the price of an iMac that the next iteration will have some degree of SSD as standard for the majority (if not all) of the range. On retina, don't care. Don't need it.

So if selling "yesterday's hardware at tomorrow's prices" is such a recipe for failure, why is Apple one of the few - if the only - PC maker consistently reporting sales growth?

It's rather hypocritical to decry the "iSheep" who will buy anything Apple because it is from Apple and then castigate the company for making you wait for a new product. Just follow your own advice, move on, and buy a new Windows PC with all the latest hardware bells and whistles since that is going to be the only future option anyway should your belief that Apple is doomed as a PC maker or has abandoned being a PC maker comes true.

the 2009 display problems still plague todays iMacs?

I sold my iMac from early 2011 couple days ago...so refresh i hope it will come in October.

My prediction if it happend in October...

Updated on CPU from Sandy to Ivy
Updated on USB from 2 to 3
Update on GPU 2GB graphic to be standard and maybe to add newer models

For HDD and SSD
Maybe they will add up 3TB HDD as choice option but SSD i think it will stay same like it is now...as optional

No update on design....

Same offer available to you too. I am willing to be you the price of an iMac on SSD being standard for some of the range. Don't know how much BUT can't really imagine not having SSD even if it's for the OS only.

I hope they dont make SSDs standard, I just do not want to pay that price premium they will be charging ...

I am only a newbie who is anxiously waiting on the iMac update but my market research would show that Apple have always been at the front when it comes to spec. The current iMac is almost 500 days old and believe it or not the competition are now only starting to offer iMac equivelants or close. sure you can buy PC's at half the price but at half the spec ( forget about custom builds) or the PC's with similar spec is only approx £150 cheaper if that, throw in Nvidia GT??? and your there.

My guess is

sandy-ivy, 8GB RAM min, Nvidia Graphics(as per MBP), HD 1080p + screen, 128 GB SSD + 1TB hd

if the update doesnt come close to this then i will seriously consider buying the current model , but obviously at a lower price
