As for the iMac, Apple originally planned to release three new models with upgraded panels and CPUs,

Hoping they add a new size to the line-up and not retina just yet ....

Wow I'm shocked

As of this writing 9 pages of posts totalling over 200 individual entries and not one hater bashing the source of this news.

With the number of people that normally bash this specific source as completely bogus... I had to read every post to believe it myself.

Perhaps it's the desperation of waiting so long for Apple to leave bread crumbs. Maybe the haters are all out today.

Who knows? It's refreshing to see adult behavior, that's for sure.

I'm rather eager myself, to see what's in store. :)

Why would they bash the source? It's a news agency, and it is in no way bogus unless you only watch Saturday Night Live, Bill Maher, MSNBC or Jon Stewart to tell you how to think about it. If you watch it with an open-mind, you will learn more than you think.

Also, there WERE people who immediately jumped on it and those posts as well as the rebuttal replies to the haters seemed to have been REMOVED by the moderators. The posts were civil (the replies, as the haters just wrote stuff like 'Fox News...' to imply the leftist mainstream media consensus that they are not ligit.

So, censorship, is your answer. Don't listen to them! That way it perpetuates further one-sided/provincial ignorance and hatred.

Please stay on topic, we don't need to a discussion on the merits of ethernet in this thread. If anyone wants to discuss that topic, please create a new thread in the appropriate forum.

Yes... "imminent". Let's all get our hopes up for no reason.

Upgrades to the iMac have been "imminent" for the past YEAR.

This rumor is equivalent to the statement "death is imminent".

HP recently released a ~24" iMac clone without the ODD that's 11.5mm thick.

I wouldn't say literal. It doesn't have the white bar along the bottom, and it looks like the computer itself is housed in the neck connecting the base to the screen, rather than behind the screen itself. From an engineering standpoint, the only thing they have in common is the form factor itself.

I'd say it looks similar, but hell...everything looks similar to Apple. They're so minimalist and clean in their designs, you could almost say everything they do looks "generically unique".

LOL! Look at them from the side, and they look even less similar.

...well, okay. I'll give you the keyboard and trackpad.

Count me among the Luddites who earns a living as a photo-videographer with clients who request output on Photo CD and commercials on DVD, recorded live music CDs. I just bought a 100ct DVD with printable labels, and a tray for my Pixma printer so they will get a custom logo for their own project output.

I'm a caveman and your ways are strange to me. Except that I use a Nikon 800,, a canon XA-10, Rode mics, and Aperture and Final Cut Pro. Some clients want it on USB, some via link upload/download, and some on Disc. My answer in each case is, "of course".

Ship my new iMac with USB3 so I can offload the 50gB per job quickly, give me SSD and a nice GPU for processing speed, a new Drobo 5d as the media server. And I will handle the output per the needs of the business. And That includes ODD.

Why do you think I care what you use? I've done sound engineering work as an example, all backups went to DAT storage, hard drives for masters, and we used a Studer cdr 18 for client approval demos.

Please take context into consideration! I said "some" as a response to the parent comment writing off people who disagrees as "kids", why do you feel included in this particular subset?

It can be a rough crowd around here, lots of haters out to bash the source when it's reporting anything other than good news about Apple.. you'll see.

Frankly I didn't get it when I was new here either :)

Probably true. And here I thought that new iMac talk would be good for some folks :)

The section has been greatly reduced. That is a fact that no one can deny. Reduced space for items that are no longer selling as well as they used to. Space that can be used towards more profitable items.

No one cares that CDs sound better than iTunes MP3s except, at best, 1% of consumers. Audiophiles? Sure. But 99% of consumers can't tell the difference and happily enjoy MP3s on their supplied Apple earbuds. That's just being silly.

99% of consumer can't tell the difference in quality between macs and PCs, let's stop making macs and get with the times??

Think about it.

FoxNews.com's Clayton Morris reports that an update to Apple's aging iMac lineup is "imminent", although he does not offer additional details on a specific timeframe or expected improvements.

I guess they meant "imminent" in a geologic sense...
