Hey is this likely to ooccur?
I want to buy an iPad pro but I've heard they will upgrade the specs of the larger iPad with the specs of the 9.7 such as the 4k camera and true tone display.
Thanks.

That's just speculation, nothing is guaranteed. Also, for the last few years, iPads updates have happened in late October ~ November. September has been for iPhones.

Anyone's guess but mine is no. Most "professional" use of the 12.9 Pro would require turning off True Tone for better color accuracy. And a 4k camera on the large Pro wouldn't be as useful as it is on the easier-to-shoot-with 9.7. I don't think these features on the 12.9 would entice gen 1 owners to upgrade or make 9.7 owners opt for the larger Pro. It would benefit from the better color gamut and less reflective screen of the 9.7 Pro but I don't think it's enough to update it this year. I'm sure these features will all come to gen 2 but a worthy update should take a little longer (next year) to include 3D Touch, a slight weight reduction, and focus on the really important stuff that artist and heavy note takers will appreciate. Like even better palm rejection, latency and pressure sensitivity to correspond with the next generation Apple Pencil which was rumored by a patent to allow nib options, including a brush.

Thanks for your opinion. I'm not waiting until next year and what you said about recording 4k video seems accurate.

I stopped thinking about stuff like this a long time ago. If I had waited to buy my iPad Pro, I would have gone this whole time without it, and MAN do I love this thing. It is an absolute power house and is handling everything I throw at it just fine. It's not only the best iPad I've ever had, but also the most versatile laptop I've ever had. I know I will take heat for saying that, but it's totally true. I got rid of my rMBP months ago.

No I agree with you.
Steve Jobs always thought touchscreens were the future for computers.

Well said; I really like my iPad Pro, too.

Since Apple will probably launch the A10 in September, it's a little odd if all the iPad variants don't get an upgrade to the improved processor.

What I'm hoping for is parity across the iPad Pro lines in October / November, bundled together with maybe an A10X. Same true tone screen, same 12MP camera (or whatever's coming on the iPhone 7), same 4GB and USB3 w/fast charging.

A slightly shorter pencil with simpler charging options and maybe extra functionality like a button or "top eraser" would be nice. I'm fine with the Smart Keyboard as it is.

Very debatable if the 9.7" gets 4gb and the usb3 this year, but if the 12.9" gets the TT display, I'll gladly get it in the 256gb size.

Amended: probably get 128gb (256gb for $150 more is a little too pricey)

I don't think any of these features are warranted well enough to make the larger ipad pro a better device....no way will I use it as a camera and the screen is perfectly fine....the processor and gpu are far overpowered....don't see a need for a update....there is already a fast charge cable that can be purchased separately

Will likely happen if the iPhone Plus gets a RAM upgrade to 3GB.
[doublepost=1467833518][/doublepost]Apple are bound to upgrade the next Pros together which I would expect to happen in March but later this year is possible.

I have no idea where I implied that the larger iPad Pro is a better device, nor that I wanted it to be a better device. Buy whatever you want, I'm just saying it's nice to have an update. Whether you "need" an update is really a very personal thing - ironically the word is used subjectively in this case.

I didn't say it was a better device......

I am an owner of an iPad 2 which has now officially been deprecated by Apple with iOS 10. I won't comment on which IPP is better for anyone else. That's a matter of personal requirements and taste. I know what I want and need: A 12.9 IPP with an upgraded A10x processor and otherwise minimally parity in display and communication capabilities with the 9.7 IPP. If there are additional features which can be added in the short term that would be great. For me the replacement clock is ticking. An upgraded 12.9 IPP as described this Fall is what I want and believe that I need. I think there might be some number of iPad 2 owners similarly situated and some number of Windows XP, 7, and 8 owners who might find such a product of interest.

This may be nothing. I work for a reseller, and this morning our pricing feed from our distributor lists the 12.9" as out of stock and end of life..... It could just be an error in the feed, but maybe not....

Edit: Have just checked. The feed is showing EOL for all iPP 12.9" models....whatever that means.

Can you disclose the reseller or which country it is at least?

It's a bit early to have a refresh so soon though. I'd be looking forward to a feature parity update across all the iPad lines however.

The distributor is New Zealand's largest IT distributor. Which means it's tiny by US standards.

I think it's a bit early too. I was expecting an update around the end of the year, or more likely some time next year. Just reporting what I am seeing.
