Still waiting for a refund from Fangyuan for the original SSD kit I shipped back. They've received it on the 6th August but are now asking me to cancel the refund request, so I'll give it another few days but will refer to customer services and a chargeback if it continues.

That is strange. Every experience I have had with Aliexpress (I returned quite a few orders unrelated to SSDs), I received refunds within less than a week from Aliexpress… not from the seller per say.

Yes, I've opened a case with customer services now so hopefully gets resolved.

If anything happens to your upgraded storage or you need to send the device back to Apple, you can always insert the single 512GB NAND blade again.
I wonder if Apple already has means to detect if 3rd party storage solutions were in use on the device. I wouldn't be surprised if they track that already to be able to have an excuse to deny warranty repairs

9 months and counting for an 8TB kit for an m3 studio ultra. 5.5 months ago Gilles promised mine would ship "in the next two weeks or so." Every attempt at contact since has been met with silence. He has had more than enough time to complete the backlog, even only finishing 3 a day, 3 days a week. I'm only holding out so long because of the price I paid. My patience is wearing very thin...

Yeeeah, @gilles_polysoft hasn’t checked in here since May, hasn’t updated his site in almost three months, hasn’t replied to any contact form submissions, emails, or texts, apparently hasn’t shipped any more products or refunded anybody in the interim, though still finds a bit of time to be semi-active on Twitter

Pretty sure he’s given up on this whole endeavour and is hoping it all just goes away somehow??

You should start a charge back before you lose your money. Waiting on him based on the price you paid might end up costing you double.
