Feeling so happy, finally got my package. Good Job, UPS
First, they did put the package to the truck for delivery to the UPS Store, but they put it in the wrong truck, and that UPS guy knows that is from Apple, so he called the hub center and try to contact me. So I end up meeting the UPS guy at a hospital dock to get my package.

Awesome! Above and beyond for that guy, what a great dude.

So let me get this straight, don't ship it to a UPS Store? Any reason? I live in New York and all the CCs are (relatively) far away.

Others have reported that delivering to a UPS store may delay delivery by an extra day.

I tried to change mine to a UPS Store and it told me it would be an extra day. Yeah, no. Gonna make the trek up to the distribution center instead tomorrow. :/
 
Had my shipments sent to a UPS store and it was delayed by one day. Able to get them Saturday.
 
I'm beyond frustrated right now. (I know it's all first world problems, but I'm still po'd)

I got charged and got my delivery notice for today, last night. I called UPS at 8:41 pm and asked if I could put in a hold for pickup for my local package center and the very nice lady says absolutely no problem, etc.

When we are done she says they are open at 8am tomorrow and you can pick up your watch anytime after that.

I get there about 8:05 and the guy at the counter says the package isn't ready for pickup. Basically, it hasn't progressed past Destination Scan at 4:36am this morning when it arrived at the center.

I've since chatted with two people at UPS and spoke to one person on the phone, all give variations to a story. The first said because I called after 7 I am not able to get my package today. The other two said the package is just sitting there waiting to be scanned and then I can pick it up. Both did not like it when I said I was going to call Apple and say that UPS lost it.

I'm just frustrated, if I have to wait until 8am tomorrow that's not the end of the world, but geeze.

FWIW, the customer service people at the 800 number didn't promise you the right thing. Sure, we open at 8am, but that's not to say that your package is ready. More often than not, it won't be.

When you flag a box for will call, the computer puts a hold on that tracking number so it doesn't progress to the truck that would have delivered it to your house. The system kicks it out as an exception, and those have to be manually processed as to where they go. Reschedules, reroutes, hold for customer pick up etc. Depending on the size of your center and the volume they do daily (mine is 30,000+ every day), that can be thousands of packages that have to be hand processed depending on what the exception is.

Trucks that deliver air to the centers always come in for unload dead last. So now, your air package is the last batch in the building AND it's got an exception on it. Depending on when the air truck that delivered it from the airport to your center actually backed into the building, the chances that you package makes it to the counter at or before 8am are virtually zip. What she should have told you is to sign up for the text alerts on UPS My Choice and when you get one that says "ready for pickup" you're golden.

Sorry you got bad info. She clearly didn't have an understanding of what goes on when you are boots on the ground handling the packages.
 
My local ups depot said my watch had restrictions on it and they could not process the change in the delivery address to the ups access point (thru my choice)... Anyone else have this issue with the customer care center? For those in nyc this is maspeth and they are the worst
 
This is weird. I don't see an option to hold for pickup at a customer center anymore. I only have the option to deliver it to a UPS access point or UPS store.

UPS agent on phone and chat are closed, but I went ahead and submitted change delivery to what appears to be a hub. It is the only Customer Center in the city. Others are in other nearby cities and further away. So assuming that this is the place where my watch is going before gets put on a truck.

Question:

So here's what it says on my tracking page:

"UPS My Choice Delivery Change: A UPS my choice delivery change was requested for this package. / delivery to UPS Access Point TM pending."

Does that look copacetic?

My scheduled time by truck is 'by end of day' which here can mean 8pm. I'd much rather just drive over and get it.

I can't confirm w UPS as live people not available just now. Tracking status changed to "origin scan in Louisville KY". Thanks.

I've got pretty much the same thing just a day or so later. How did yours work out? Were you able to pick up ok?
