How many of you have had this happen?

I've now received 5 watches. They all required signature, per Apple.

I signed for 3 of them. One was handed to me by our UPS guy and he never got my signature. He knows me, though.

Today, a guy who isn't our regular guy tried to sit one on my porch without a signature. I saw him and opened the door. He picked up my packages and handed them to me. No signature.

Wth??

That's definitely odd. Did you ask him why he didn't get a signature?

That happened to me when then delivered the watch, I think it was a replacement driver, they were behind with deliveries so they just left it. but the next day UPS came back, and had to sign for the package. So I think the previous driver got in trouble.

I think the reason why apple always has us sign for stuff, it is just for records to make sure everyones packages get delivered

I've got the reverse problem. I'm at home waiting for a band delivery that shouldn't require a signature, but my UPS driver won't deliver ANYTHING from Apple without someone signing for it.

I picked up my watch on the 24th at the ups depot, so they took my signature there, but my wife had a watch delivered yesterday. When I opened the door the UPS guy looked a bit relieved and said ‘Thank goodness you were home. I can’t leave these no matter what unless you have the form from apple filled out correctly and hung on the door.’

Nah. He's not our regular UPS guy. I'm gonna mention it to our regular guy.

How about stop ordering watches so everyone else can get one FFS!

Because there are 5 people living here? Why can they not all have watches?

And, I doubt me ordering one is stopping anyone here at MR from getting theirs.

Weird. FedEx brought us some bands today. No signature.

I wonder if that will happen in this case. The record online is incomplete.

----------

Because by now he knows you're a band whore and didn't need your signature :p

:p

4 watches… never signed a thing.

Wild. That just seems so wrong.

I have to sign for everything. Even the mortgage offers from chase.

LOL. As long as they don't make you sign for the Cap One auto loan letters. ;)

Maybe the OP lives in a very nice area.

Fairly nice, I suppose. I didn't consider that. Hmmm.

Still, my neighbor had some packages stolen off the porch one time, so you'd think UPS would figure thieves might lift packages pretty much anywhere.

I'm
A ups driver. Makes no difference replacement driver or no, as soon as you scan an apple package a warning pops up to get a signature. It does allow you to DR (driver release it) but if you say you never got it ups would have to honor your claim, also the driver would get in trouble from that claim

I called Apple and UPS to have them leave it as I am not home much but my porch is secure. I hate when I have to sign for things. I printed out the Apple Pre-Sign release and told him where to leave it. The Apple rep said they do want to cover themselves in case it was stolen.

Now I will say that maybe because I order from Amazon a LOT that they just leave packages for me. I got a Nano as a "consolation" gift from Apple due to my watch having the tattoo issue and it was just left no signature.

More data points (I've had three UPS deliveries):
  • 2 weeks ago - Sport - Signature
  • 1 week ago - SS Watch - Signature
  • Today - Milanese - NO signature. I just "discovered" it on the doormat. No idea of actual delivery time.

UPS is weird around here.
Amex overnighted me a new card when I lost mine, left it in the screen door no signature required.
I ordered a speaker bar from Amazon and when that was delivered, the guy knocked and handed it to me, no signature.

That's very interesting. The driver is lucky I'm honest. He should've had me sign for it. Especially since he's not our regular driver. I'm on a first name basis with the regular guy and I'm sure he's confident that we wouldn't try to shaft him.

I've never seen the dude that stopped here today, but him just bending over to leave our packages on the porch makes me wonder if he was new.

Post of the day :apple:

Funny part is, none of us have 42mm watches, and that poster wants 42mm. ;)

Milanese band doesn't require signature, if my Apple order info is accurate. I know the link did, but it shipped directly from China.

I had this happen with Fed-Ex Tuesday - I got a text and got home within an hour and it was STOLEN. I live in DC on a busy street. I called both Fed Ex and Apple and Apple is sending another one (hopefully no charge or I'll be reversing first one off my card). I asked Apple support why they changed their model - they normally *always* require a signature - she said now some items don't require it. I asked for her to note on my account to always require one, so she did that. Fed Ex was totally useless, but I assume they will be held liable, as I signed for nothing and received nothing. My thought was a) it was the driver (they know pkg is from Apple even tho its in a plain box, or b) someone had to be right there watching since I got home in 45 minutes. The worst part is waiting *again* for my Apple Watch 3 to be shipped from China.

My Apple Watch was left on a doorstep about 3 units down from me. No one had to sign, they just left it at the wrong door. I called UPS to track it down and they said the local UPS wharehouse would be calling me within an hour. It’s been over a week and no phone call. Luckily, I decided to walk through my complex and look for it and found it on a random doorstep.
