Is a signature required? I've heard lots of people here saying it isn't but my order on apple.com says it is.

If you order directly from apple a sig is required. you can print out the authorization and sign it and UPS will leave it.

Requested a hold at 5:30pm today in chat with UPS. She said it would be ready when they open. Talked to another just to be sure and she also said it will be there for pickup when they open. I have a bad feeling though, nothing ever goes right for me and I have a flight at 12:15 and they open at 9am, if I dont get it I will be out of state without a phone :(

I am working in the same boat but I am going out of the country for three weeks. Hopefully no issues with picking it up at distribution center.

Good luck to you, mine might be in worse shape than you since I'm picking up from a Customer center, not a distribution center. Though it says my phone left PA and hasnt had updates since so maybe it hasnt hit the ship center for my state.

Wtf ups???

I have a UPS My Choice account and on Wednesday selected on my tracking page to have it held at the UPS Customer counter which is about 10 min from my work.

I check the tracking this morning and it now says Out for Delivery by the end of the day with that request still pending. I was expecting to pick it up in an hour when then open. Now not sure if they will actually attempt the delivery late in the day or then hold it and then I won't get the phones until Monday (since they are closed on Saturday). WTH!?!?!

same problem here..... Shame on me for believing people on this forum.

It should still be held there. I've had that occur with items held for will-call in the past. The explanation I got from my local UPS hub was that the "out for delivery" status will always show, but it's a logical scan based on time, it's not a physical scan if it comes after the will-call confirmation for pickup. If you're worried, you can always call your local UPS hub and confirm that your item was pulled and set aside for you.

You're only allowed to pick up from the UPS local hub (typically a UPS Customer Center) that has delivery responsibility for the area where you live. That's the location that will receive the final arrival scan before it would normally go on a truck for delivery.
Will-call pickup will basically instruct the people at the hub scanning your package to pull it and set it aside for pickup.

mine's held for pickup but package is in husband's name..should be ok right if my license is our same address?

Yes, I chatted with a UPS rep and they confirmed as long as your photo ID has the delivery address you will be able to pick up the package. I'm in the same boat but it's my wife (since the account is in her name for her discount).

I printed off the chat transcript and printed the form from Apple just in case though.

So have you guys had success with the hold for pickup option? My 6+ gets delivered on the 23rd and no one will be home to pick it up, I'd like to have it held for pickup so I can get it before coming in to work.

The people who used hold for pickup, were you guys successful getting it early in the morning?

thanks :) they didn't even care about the difference in names. just tracking # and address :)

I had the same thing happen and I just got back from the UPS hub with my phone. Try calling UPS and asking them if it is in fact on a truck or if it is in the hub. Chances are it's in the hub.

UPS comes through again!

Just stopped by the local depot. Had it on will call. Two guys in front of me picking up phones. Took 5 minutes, back in office now setting it up!

Good news! They did hold mine as they were supposed to and I have the 2 iPhones in hand! Woohoo!
