So he is the one who stole my Vision Pro and polishing cloth order? Other people are lucky he didn't steal anything else.

A former UPS worker located in Winnipeg, Canada has been accused of stealing Apple products valued at more than $1.3 million, and reselling them for profit.

According to Canada's Global News and the Winnipeg Free Press, UPS worker Orville Beltrano stole approximately 866 Apple devices from the warehouse where he had worked since 2013. Beltrano served as a supervisor at the location, and he was selling the products that he swiped on Kijiji.

Between September 2023 and January 2024, Beltrano deposited more than $232,000 in his bank accounts. He was fired by UPS on January 22, and arrested the same day. In his home and vehicle, investigators found $9,000 in cash, a Mac laptop, and jewelry valued at over $9,000.

Beltrano admitted to stealing Apple products and jewelry from UPS, and said that he used the money to purchase a home worth $680,000 and to pay off a $60,000 Audi hatchback purchased in 2021. He has been charged with theft over $5,000, theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and possession of the proceeds of crime.

The theft was discovered after UPS launched an investigation in December to determine why so many Apple devices were disappearing from the warehouse in Winnipeg. Surveillance cameras were installed, and Beltrano was found to be stealing products from pallets that were supposed to be shipped to Ontario. He allegedly stole more 120 iPhones in a single shift in January 2024.

Prosecutors have asked the court to approve the seizure of Beltrano's house, cash, bank accounts, and vehicle.

What?!? Who? exactly is writing these articles what sense does this statement make "He has been charged with theft over $5,000, theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and possession of the proceeds of crime."

It's Canada so he has to say "sorry" and really mean it this time.
I was kind of hoping they'd make him play in a prison hockey league, against the guards. Then Hollywood would make a movie about it complete with a Burt Reynolds cameo, and the Warden's speech: "Now, there are two things we take very seriously here in the province of Saskatchewan... Prison and hockey. We play a little of the latter here."

Doesn't it just mean he stole something worth $5000 and also something less valuable, while he still has some of the stolen items worth $5000+ each at hand as well as the money he got by selling other items he stole??

My guess is these are all specific crimes under Canadian law and each item stolen was charged as a separate crime.

This was a serious crime. He needs to go to a curling prison.

He probably could have gotten away with it a lot longer if he wasn’t so greedy.
If the theft was ~20% of what is being accused of within the same period then it wouldn't raise such a high red flag.

Also, really? Putting the money into places that keeps records for money laundering like banks & land titles?

The dude gotta watch Breaking Bad & Ozarks, both available on Netflix.

Now that dude for being dumb he doesn't have job and if the prosecutors approve the seizure of his house, cash, bank accounts, and vehicle he about to become cashless, car less and homeless

Well, is a lot of devices, and for sure he will be procecuted. But perhaps he could do the right thing and wipe the slate clean for only 29,99 in your local Apple Store, the apple cleaning cloth, the power to clean.

It makes perfect sense, it is a list of things the suspect was charged with. With an Oxford comma, no less.

In 2022 I ordered a 24in iMac. Tracking was through FedEx and was to be delivered 12 days later. Shipped from China where it was made, I got a notification it was delivered to my home 2 weeks later.

However I was outside all morning washing my car and no FedEx truck ever came. The next day I knew something was wrong so I contacted Apple. They started a tracking investigation which should take 48 hours.

4 days later I contacted them again and was told it was still being looked into. A week later same BS. So late that night I penned an email to Tim Cook explaining the situation.

A day later someone from his executive team contacted me. Gave me option to get money back or re-order. I chose the latter and 2 weeks later a new iMac was hand delivered. Never knew the outcome of the lost iMac.
Last time I ordered a laptop, I had full view of the front street all day, and dogs that also bark anytime someone shows. And multiple people were home.
Suddenly I get an email that delivery was attempted. BS. I checked the door to see if there was a tag just in case we somehow magically missed the dropoff. No tag. Called FedEx and get a generic service lady probably in another country telling me I just have to wait for redelivery.
I can't believe these delivery companies still have these issues in these modern days. Not only that, but what kind of idiots give up a decent job and all future earnings by stealing a phone or laptop. Talk about short-sighted.

He was charged with four different crimes. Makes sense to me.

What are you complaining about?
