To say OLED is superior is subjective. There are people who will prefer color accuracy of the LCD screen. Some will prefer not to have video letter boxed. Some will prefer not having content hidden behind a notch. And some will prefer the width of the plus as demonstrated below. Most will agree bezels are outdated, but, an elongated 4.7” phone has its own drawbacks.

I have always preferred Apple’s color accuracy over any Samsung phone I’ve seen. I’m a videophile, so any oversaturation burns my eyes. Lowering the saturation on demo OLED phones proved helpful, but I still preferred my Apple display.

When people claimed, as a fact, that Samsung phones had better displays, I always walked away puzzled. It’s not as black and white as people make it out to be (pun not intended) Both displays have their advantages and disadvantages.

These are the same people who love the Vivid or Dynamic picture mode on their television and have never seen a properly calibrated display.

...I assume you were trying to make a point. They are very nearly the same size.

No. No it is not. It’s science. It’s numbers. It’s factual. OLED > LCD. In both mobile displays and TV displays. Perfect black levels with the complete absense of light. Extremely high contrast ratios. Color accuracy equal to other display technologies. In the evolution of display technology, OLED is what has come after LCD.
Yeah let's all forget about the fact it takes more energy for specific content, or that it's PenTile with circular zig-zagged subpixels, or the fact that it's not even RGB but RGBG, so your PPI will go anywhere from ~200s to ~300s depending on the colors you're looking at, or the fact that OLEDs are still susceptible to burn-in.

Mix all that with the fact that you have the stupid notch thing which you can bypass, but at the cost of a lot of blacked out screen real estate.

Other than all those things yeah, you're absolutely correct: it's science, it's numbers, it's factual, OLED > LCD 🙄

So far you’ve so said no, no it’s not to the screen of the X being considerably more narrow and that’s been proven to you. Then you said the same to the X battery being rated an hour less than the plus and that has been proven. Now you say that to OLED lol? Science? Numbers? How about visual?

I don’t give two sh!ts what numbers say.....if colors look saturated or whites look off-white at the expense of deep blacks or color fading at angles due to pentile display technology then I don’t care what ‘numbers’ say.

Since you are the forum defender of this new screen and seem to ignore all we have tried to tell you....give the Design and Display sections a read. A nice, slow, careful read.

Not me. Am loving my 8+ and not ready to give up Touch ID yet. Also I’m curious about the screen of the X.

So nearly the same size on a device with a superior OLED screen wasn’t good enough. Fair enough.
Whatever screen is smaller on the X. Superior? Not if one dislikes the new screen ratio trend. You seem to be overly invested in cheerleading a phone, from your posts.

Pretty confident that won’t be the case. People will be very happy with a screen that is very nearly the same size as the 8 Plus, while having the smaller form factor of the standard 8. Not to mention the far superior OLED display...

I am very happy to (soon) have to phone of today and beyond, rather than the bezeled version of yesterday.
The screen on the plus is wider. It's more useful than having it taller.
