Yup, finally happened to me today. My 13" w/ touchbar had been doing fine for the last two weeks until this afternoon when the screen decided to make like a 1980's MAME cabinet and glitch out full ASCII style. Rebooted, went back to what I was doing and everything seemed fine until it did the same thing 40 minutes later. AppleInsider reported that it was third party software issue, but at the time the only apps running were Safari, iTunes and Mail so that's a load of bull. I'm hoping it's just a software glitch and will be corrected soon, but Apple needs to man up and acknowledge this is really happening instead of trying to cover it up like the 6S battery issue.

This is one of Apple's Key Signature - GPUs not being soldered well to the Logic Board or the soldering balls cracking.

In total I had in my life till now: 1 MBP 2008, 1 MBP mid 2011 17 Inch, 1 iMac Mid 2011 and MacMini Late 2012.
Except the Mac Mini, ALL the other devices suffer or died completely from this problem.

So, what happens is that in time as the GPU temps go up and down, the soldering gets cracked... it's a long story...
Either way... this is Apple's Literally GPU Signature Failure.

It may happen after 1 month, after 2 years or after 3....

APPLE Does NOT do quality tests and they DO NOT care about having these issues fixed anyway.
This is going on since 2008.... Why would they stop now?.... Buy a Mac, dies after 3 years, go buy a new one....

F U Apple for this! This is why, my next Mac will be bought by the company and I will not spend any more $$$ on Macs from my own pockets.

As insurance, Apple's extended holiday return policy is currently in effect. MacBook Pros purchased or delivered between November 10 and December 25 are eligible for return until January 8, 2017 in the United States, Australia, and Canada, or January 20 in the United Kingdom and some other European countries.

I ordered a 2TB BTO with the 460 shortly after the announcement, and I picked it up on Monday. I haven't opened the box. I was debating returning it based on some of the other issues. But it says on my ordered page that it is ineligible for return. I read the return policy, and I don't see why it should not be returnable.

Which is why they need to start using solder WITH lead again - as environmentally unfriendly as that is. That will last longer.

And unfortunately I think they won't do it.
They just need to do it properly, it's not like others are doing the same thing, the rest of the main board uses the same solder no?

And if you do need to get some serious work done, there's a nice Windows laptop for $500-800 less you can pick up for that stuff. ;)
See, the problem is that you can't get serious work done in Windows either. I just want OS X on commodity or non-crappy hardware. And no, Hackintosh is not a real solution; I've gone through that.

I've narrowed it down to buying end-of-life/used/refurbished Mac models that don't have any known problems, given ample time for bugs to be found. But if you really need the latest hardware, tough.

I don't agree with Apples philosophy of an even thinner device every year. And I sure as hell don't like that my CPU heats up to a ****ing 100 degrees celsius after a minute of handbrake encoding.

But I did everything I could to bring this machine to it's limit. Importing a complete Apple Photos library while doing the handbrake encoding and watching some stuff on YouTube while I was installing World of Warcraft on an external SSD.

No problems or artifacts whatsoever - I am a 101% sure they will come back if I install Adobe CC again. This is a complete clean install (3rd this week) without Adobe Software. And after seeing (with Little Snitch) that this ******ing software keeps almost 15 connections to remote IPs up all the time - I am basically fine with blaming them for everything.

Available now is the new beta.

There is no new Sierra beta (not even for Devs).

It's probably more environmentally friendly than putting out products with solder that'll lead to failures, especially when Apple is soldering everything together.

I own a legal license for Adobe CC, but I cracked my software anyway just to avoid that nonsense.

Best you can do is buy a tried and tested used/refurbished Mac, preferably a Mac Pro since those things are actually built really well.

If I'm in a third-party application, the experience should be relatively the same. If the operating system is having that much of an impact on my ability to work, I would argue that operating system is too much "in the way".

Anyway, if I follow your line of thinking in that I can't get anything done in Windows because of something Windows-related, then I just have to point out at least my problem will be fixable with software.

Okay...I have the new Macbook Pro 13 with Touchbar. It's a STUNNING machine. No issues. My friend is running 4K video via Final Cut with no issues. How many haters here actually OWN one of these? You sound like a bunch of babies. I've got a loaded Macbook Air and the 2014 15" pro and I'm shocked at how much nicer the new machine is. Sure, it should be 200 bucks cheaper, but the screen is the best I've seen. I'm processing Nikon D810 pics and this is really a sweet laptop.

So far so good. Almost everyone here does NOT have a 2016 Macbook Pro, and they are crying the loudest. Get it?

Welp - I just upgraded my early 2011 MacBook Pro plagued with graphics problems to this brand new touch bar model and I think you can see where I'm going with this...

Apple - this is just getting ridiculous.

Wow, I feel for you.

Dodged the bullet. Just canceled my maxed out 15" order. Which also included two 4k monitors. Too risky. Dang I have a tough decision ahead to stay OS X.

To be fair on these forums there are whiners and apologists , many of which do not own the machines, please don't only emphasise the whiners, apologists are just as bad and toxic.

Yes I do own the new machine. I bought a Max 2015 return and 2.7 460 2016 and comparing the two to decide which to keep.

Yes the new model is stunning, though between the 2015 and 2016 is pros/cons....can I ask how your battery is ? That is my biggest concern, I a, yet to also do intensive graphic tests between the two

I picked up a refurb 2015 max, still available, it's about £1000 cheaper for same specs and it's a refined model that I would consider to be issue free, as it's the last gen. I'm finding it difficult to keep my 2016... one rev A product I may skip

It's like a dejavu of time when jobs left the company, which means... it's a total disaster that's happening now!!! More product lines, but less quality assurances.
Focus, Apple! lessen the product lines and make products USEFUL as Steve did! You guys are ruining Apple! I loved Apple's products for decades but now it feels more like average now.
Revamp iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS... Everything!

Well... my experience from years ago had a first edition mac mini give garbled video output via DVI due to an underclocked GPU, out of date firmware, and several GPU features turned off/never purchased from ATI. Done so by Apple to limit heat dissipation, and... save a few dollars.

Not at all shocked by the news GPUs on a very thin machine are misbehaving.

Just a real frustration a video pro doesn't have much option at the moment with Mac hardware.

I just saw the new MBP with touch bar for the first time yesterday at an Apple Store in New Jersey. I thought to myself if only it wasn't so expensive I would get one right now. I was also thinking to myself I wish the keyboard didn't feel so shallow, but I guess I would get used to it. Now, I'm thinking sometimes Apple's very high prices are good for something, like preventing a lot of us from going through the trouble of dealing with Apple's flaky quality control/design issues on their Rev. A models. It's a shame that it's often a good idea to wait a year or two before you can trust the hardware with Apple (hopefully). Thermal management could be the issue here and that might be a tricky one to solve. How could they not figure this out when they were testing them?

Ouch, better wait buying one or get the Dell XPS.

I would have preferred MBP without the Radeon graphic card and instead a reasonable priced separate external NVIDIA card that is powerful enough for virtual reality and 3D gaming.

high power BGA chip installed in constricted space always been prone this problem, from dGPU in various brands laptops (not only Apple), first gen Playstation 3 IC, also lead free soldering compound the issue, few solder connection start to act up, and thermal hotspot will develop on pcb pad, and the fact that thermal paste deteriorates and often not applied properly, even if applied properly this problem still would show up when it deteriorate again, best solution is semi permanent thermal paste (hardens like adhesive) and bigger heatsink capacity (heavier).

First revision pcb & build would suffer most from this, the worrying part is this starts showing on nTB version which is lowest power version although should be much lesser extent and much safer bet.
