This is the first year that I'm not really looking forward to any of the iOS changes/features - the only thing that was of interest were the changes to the weather app.

The iPadOS updates had some useful changes but it still seems like Apple is holding back on the OS.

1. iOS 15 Focus
2. Customization is relative. Do you mean changing the systemwide text to comic sans? You can keep that.
3. You… can do that on Apple wallet too.
4. That does automatically happen if you have digital airline tickets.
1. Android had focus 3 years ago 😂

2. You can't even look at images in apple maps without downloading yelp 😂

3. try to scan a random loyalty card and get back to me chief

4. iOS does not have the ability to show you flight info in the Home Screen like in At a Glance

I call that smart thinking. Keep the operating system to a minimum and rely on third party developers to expand the functionality of IOS. @LeadingHeat already debunked your original post.
😂 Why would I want 1000 apps on my phone just to do a simple task

Do me a favor, open apple maps search for something and then look at photos of that business. You literally have to download yelp to do it 😂

assuming you mean ipad?
and if all those were implemented, people would suddenly stop bitching about lack of features?
Yes. No. In that order. Didn't mentioned what a mess Siri is.

From the outside, all cars look the same.
True, we didn't get some of the expected new features, but look in the interior and also under the hood of iOS 15 and you will be pleased.

If Apple makes things work differently, people will also complain about it.
Also, it will be a nightmare for Developers. Imagine apps now requiring a lot of changes to be compatible, etc.
Not even a Camry and Accord look similar these days. I'm not saying iPad OS 15 is worse than 14, but many of us expected much more from 15 than what we got. Not to say what we did get was bad. Better looking maps is always welcome, but let's get real, many of us have wanted way-points in Apple Maps since day 1.

Why are you waiting for an Apple calculator? Is that a must-have app and only the genuine Apple version will do?
The correct question would be, Apple why haven't you made a simple calculator app?

How though? You really haven’t thought this one through.
Apple paying us to figure this all out for them?

My Podcast app works.
You use iCatcher too? I love it, expect for when Siri asks me which app to use every time I ask her to play some music.

Until they throw more money at Siri and improving that aspect of IOS I don't really care about these other updates. When she works its great but when she doesn't I get the desire to throw my phone out the window. Stupid that she cannot operate while off line. Even the old voice thing before siri worked offline.
Unreal the battle I had with Siri yesterday asking her to play some rock'n roll on the way to my sister's house. The wife finally had to take the phone and manually start a rock'n roll station.

It’s an operating system for a phone. Who gets excited about operating system anymore?
Well Apple does do a pretty good job of hyping it every year. Maybe you should tell them to stop the advertising?

You won’t get battery life improvements on software
Don't even know where to start with that one...

All I want for iOS 15 is a podcast app that works.
Also why can’t we have an EQ setting……music has one and it could be argued that music is recorded in a studio with better quality control, so surely as the quality of podcasts can vary quite a lot then this would be a very useful feature.

Maybe productivity took a big hit with CV19 and CA being shut down so long. Lots of things might bounce back slowly all over the world due to the shut downs. A small update is hardly anything compared to the thousand who lost their businesses so I think I can tolerate a boring iOS update.

For the first time ever I’m leaning more into android 12 but I’m deep in the apple eco system so I’m screwed I’m just unhappy with how apple is doing things recently, they just don’t have the wow factor anymore
Just pull the band aid off and come on over to the dark side #Android 😎

If we're going to have yearly iOS updates, I'd very much prefer for there to be years where there's refinement and stability versus having a host of new things that may or may not work as intended. We've seen some pretty horrendous bugs in the past few versions.

Apple's software has been mediocre at best for a few year now, same with HW. Seems the only major innovations coming from Apple is the fact they change the size of their hw and up their prices and people keep buying Apple products. Can't say I blame Apple...they're making money and if it ain't broke, why fix it? IMO, they are opening the door though for a competitor to take market share (we all know it won't be MS, 🤣). If someone comes out with winning combination of software/hardware, apple could see a strong competitor to the iphone/ipad/etc.

As a fundamental rule, people get excited by new and shiny things, regardless of whether they are well designed and executed.

Most people have this crazy notion that under Steve Jobs, it was just exciting and novel new things every year. It wasn't.

At its roots, Apple is a refinement company that introduces a new product/platform/service/app, and then will spend years and years refining that product/platform/service/app.

To outsiders, that's boring, but it's what makes Apple, well, Apple.
Why is Siri still behind then 🧐

IpadOS was extra disappointing. They come out with the M1 chip and all that ram and then push out that meh of an update? lol, the pro model is no longer worth the extra $$ since apple refuses to give it actual "pro" features.

I must admit that I am finding the look of iOS very stale now, considering it's appearance is pretty much the same since iOS 7.

I think that Apple should have designed a new look for iOS back in 2017 (for when the iPhone was 10 years old) and I must admit to been surprised they didn't at the time.

I must admit to been underwhelmed with iOS 15, despite the 500+ changes announced by Apple.

One reason why iOS 15 allows multiple app copies is thanks to its new Focus features. Depending on which Focus mode you are in at the time, you can disable home screen pages. This also means that you can set up different modes for when you are working and relaxing. For example, when you are in work mode, you can set it up to hide the app pages that have all your distraction-inducing apps in one place to maintain your concentration and productivity.
I didn’t even know this was possible. I used focus for work the other day and thought “it would be cool to have a separate page for work, but I don’t want it to mess with the rest of my layout”. Problem solved!

I think ios15/ipados was pretty good out of the gate. We'll see what comes down the line further in the development cycle.
