I just downgraded back to IOS 6 and the option-clicked to update back to beta 6 and it worked fine, but now I can't figure out how to get my ios 7 backups back on the phone. I tried to erase all settings and info to set up from scratch to see if it would give me the option, but it gave me the activation error again.:(

ios 7 backups aren't compatible with ios 6; like goes with like: ios 6 backups will work with ios 6 and ios 7 backups will work with only ios 7...

If you erased everything off the phone (even if you did it via Settings > General > Reset) and set it up as new, and you are not a registered developer, it will give you the activation error and you will not be able to activate your iPhone.

I'm not saying you are not a developer, i'm just throwing it out there.

You should be able to restore from a backup made in iOS 7. It will be listed as a recent backup, unless its been lost somehow or overwritten by an iOS 6 backup. That happened to me recently.

I'm not a developer and one of the millions who updated to iOS 7 without registered UDIDs on to my iPad 4 and iPhone 4S. I just want to know what happens when iOS 7 is rolled out publicly? Do I need to rollback to 6.1.x and then update to iOS 7 or do I just update the gold master, when it comes out?

Millions? You really think millions of people have installed iOS 7 on their devices?

I look forward to September 12th when you complain that you're device is locked out ;)

Wait. I downgraded from beta 5 to beta 4, knowing about the earlier expiration date. Do you think I am that stupid? No no. I will update to GM in between OR I'll simply downgrade and use my backup which I will manipulate to work with iOS 6. :p

You missed the point, he's not wanting to leave beta 4.
YOU missed the point, I won't leave beta 4 until GM.

If you're willing to update to GM, why not update to beta 6?!

I think he was being sarcastic. You won't magically see that it will come back. You might as well start adjusting now.

It will not magically return but maybe due to the code Apple releases as something called iOS 7 Golden Master. Again, there are several reasons for them to return these effects.

You've got such a minute chance of it returning. It's gone, deal with it. My iPad 2 running it was sluggish and runs much better on beta 5, then beta 6.

My iPad 2 though runs perfectly on beta 4. Don't know what your device's problem is tho.

My point is that just cos yours runs fine, does not mean everyone's does. I noticed a definite increase in performance going from beta 4 to beta 5, much smoother use. I tried updating, clean install, etc and nothing improved use on beta 4, but beta 5, seamless in comparison

That doesn't really seem to translate that to any actual numbers. Not sure of going from a fraction of 1% to a higher fraction of still 1% (of visitors to a particular site or even sets of sites) would really mean millions.

Considering the number of iOS devices on the market, it does. It's simple math if you can assume they have a decent representation of the iOS user population.

Still, given the information, there's nothing to really say the numbers are in the millions or even close to that.

Sure there is. With over 600M devices manufactured, we have enough information to assume the numbers are in the millions. You would have to assume that an extreme number of those devices are no longer in use to even come close to being under 1M.
