Hello guys! Are the new iPhones's screens different from what they were on the iPhone 6/6s/7? Are they stronger or softer? I'm referring to the glass.
Is anyone here using an iPhone X/XS/XR without screen protector? How was the experience? Are there any bothering scratches?

I never use screen protectors or protection cases on my beautifully designed iPhones XS. You’re paying €1259 for a reason, then why hide the beauty?

To answer your question, it does scratch relatively quickly without a screen protector, but they are not bothering my since we usually upgrade once a year... just enjoy life :D

I never use screen protectors and find that the screen doesn't scratch easily. The sides and back would if I didn't use a case so I always have a case on.

No protector necessary for my usage. The Initial concern with the phone X displays new, is the coating (Oleophobic) can scratch, but if the scratch is superficial, they usually fade away once the coating starts to wear off.

No way! You can guard it like a baby, and there will be hairline scratches all over it if you don't use screen protector.

You can see these when some bright light is shining directly at the screen, such as sunlight. As the time goes, more and more of these appear, no matter how careful you are.

I hate screen protectors, too, but I would rather like to see the protector scratched, than the screen.

I just put an edge to edge glass protector and forget about it. My OCD would not allow me to go without a protector, even if it doesn't do a single scratch.

I did use my 6s without a protector and I don't remember any deep scratches, but tiny ones are normal. Most of them are visible under certain lighting conditions, so I'd assume they won't bother you. The real issue is if you drop your phone.

I would definitely advise to get a screen protector as grit in your pockets will scratch the screen over time as it is harder than a level 6 on the hardness scale. At first I got one with the notch cutout but replaced it with an edge to edge and am much happier for it. Amazon has lots of good options.

iPhone X was the first iPhone I haven’t used a tempered glass screen protector on and after a year it’s been scratch free so far. I clean the screen every couple of days to minimize anything that could potentially scratch the surface and I really like the way the screen feels compared to a screen protector..

I would never use a screen protector. I love when people think they found one that looks and feels “exactly” the same as the original glass. It doesn’t exist.
The ones at the Apple Store are amazing. I couldn't believe it either, but the glass ones almost make the screen clearer.

I don't use one. I find them especially off putting on X and XS due to the gesture based UI which means your finger is always bumping against the protector when swiping (and edge to edge ones are even worse as they have more of an air gap to the screen).

Yes, my screen has fine scratches in the coating, only visible under bright light with the screen off. Theast sentence also explains why I couldn't care less that they are there.

I never have used one on any of the iPhones I've had. I buy AppleCare and don't worry about it. I've even been known to wipe the screen with my shirttail.

If you've never used one, you certainly don't seem like the record of authority on whether or not there are ones out there that look and feel the same as the original glass, because I can tell you there most certainly are. And honestly, it's nearly all of them at this point. Ten years in and it's a pretty well understood technology.

I have a lifeproof fre case on mine. If my career didn’t require me being outdoors on a frequent basis, I’d probably go without any added protective gear. It is a very nicely-looking phone, as is expected with Apple

iPhone displays have come along way, they are extremely durable, as a matter fact, I have sold all my previous iPhones in pristine condition with the displays, and that’s _without_ the use of screen protectors. But my rule is, I just don’t set the screen face down and nor do I carry it in my pocket with any other items either.

I sometimes have mine in my pocket with a handkerchief which is good for cleaning the screen.
