I’m forced to ask just what is Utah State Senator Kirk Cullimore (R-Sandy) technical expertise …. Besides being just another grifting GOP politician? And how much has Google contributed to his Reelect The Grifter campaign?

Hey “Senator” why not spend time representing your constituents and leave your “dark money” contributions where they belong?

I don’t know if laugh or cry 👀
Just do not vote for this clown!

America is doomed to always be ruled by idiots
As well as the idiots who vote them in. “We get the elected officials we deserve!”

Even politicians can have a sense of humor. It’s a waste of time but it’s clearly a joke (if a dumb one).
Doubtful .. he is a republican and they love to grift!

"Remember, not only is the public intellectually impaired because they've gone through the American educational system, guess what: the guy sitting next to you at the desk in that bad school you went to - he's in the legislation business now. I mean, you have people in government who are intellectually unprepared to engage in any high-level human activity. These are basically used car salesmen that got a promotion. Or lawyers, which is worse."

- Frank Zappa 1990

"I don't expect this to really get out of committee," said Cullimore.

Then why waste everyone's time and tax payer money?
Contributions from Google or maybe he’s hoping the Google executives fleeing California before the big “RICH TAX” is implemented will relocate to Utah?

There’s a grift involved somewhere in here.

Sigh...
The sad part is, we have to think about how did this fellow got elected into the office in the first place.

(What is "the iOS vs. Android debate"?)

In any case: how embarrassing. Not the most shameful American politician by factor of a trillion, but it's a start.

"Someday, everybody with an iPhone will realize that the technology is better on Android," said Cullimore, according to the report. "I'm the only one in my family – all my kids, my wife, they all have iPhones – but I'm holding strong," he added.

Can’t even convince his family, but screw it, let’s claim to be speaking for the whole state 🤣

Gosh, I wonder if he recently received a hefty campaign contribution from some unnamed tech company? You know, help him dot his i's and cross his t's. Mind his P's and Q's. Easy as ABC...

At least he's in touch with today's technology.

Here in the UK, we'd probably get someone trying to make BlackBerryOS the UK's official operating system.

Such a typical Android user attitude. They think they know best but they really don't actually use anything Android can do that the iPhone can't. They just think they know better when really they're making their family's lives difficult by not just using the same damn thing everyone else knows how to use.

The person can make jokes, but some processes aren’t the place to make them. Introducing frivolous bills that waste time, and therefore taxpayer’s money, is not it.

The propensity to turn everything into reality-TV-like entertainment is partly to blame for where the world is right now. We should ask more sense of responsibility and decorum from politicians, and leave Jersey Shore to MTV.

Well, it is Utah after all, so this might be the best use of his time so as to not come up with some truly bad ideas.

I'm in Idaho and we are in constant competition with Utah for the most "wish it was still 1950" legislation award.
Most republican politicians seem to “wish it was still 1950” when legislating, but only in regards to marginalized people. They certainly don’t want a 1950s tax policy where federal income tax for big earners (million +) was ~90%, we had a balanced budget & the different parties got along some of the time. 🤷

Says Wikipedia ; "In 2025, Cullimore sponsored legislation to ban cities or communities from adding fluoride, a mineral that reduces tooth decay, to public water systems".

Of course he's a "republican".

I preferred when Republicans at least pretended they didn't want the government to pick the winners and losers in the market. Today there is no pretense. It is all about exerting coercive control over industry for the benefit of the few.

Wow, what an incredibly unconvincing argument he had to support his claims. Politicians love to be self righteous.

As a non-native but current resident of UT for the last thirty years, I've enjoyed reading thru these comments; I'll say no more.
Except, @JTK Awesome; you might want to delete your comment before it gives you a one-week bannination (don't ask me how I know). 😉

From the sponsor of this bill: "This was a lighthearted attempt at a little levity during the session."

It was a joke. Maybe not a good one, but a joke nonetheless. I know these are difficult times for many people but I think there are opportunities to lighten up a little and not get offended over everything.
