v. 15.7.7. No Mail, Messages, Reminders, Calendar, notification sound

Hello to you all. As the tile says, I'm not receiving any notification sounds for these applications. Tried all the tricks in the books, sear chef the Web and the forums for a week and many have this problem but found no solution. Is someone here has one? Each and every setting is fine in the applications and within the OS. Really don't know what to do. 2019 5K 27 iMac, 32 Ram, boots from external Sony T5 though internal 1 T Fusion Drive is fine and host the original Sequoia. Could really use some help.

If I read that right you are running a legacy iMac. Perhaps something just failed at the same time. My 2017 iMac lasted until last year then started to slowly go down hill, or booting from an external drive???
