I think this show has potential, but we all know how it starts. Let the action begin next week.

SH*TE!

I missed tonights show!!! NOOOOOOO!

I was so looking forward to tonights show. I think I'm into this, the last two SGU shows where kinda well fillers in a sense.

V is starting to get good, the acting needs to be better, in order for that to happen the writing & directing NEEDS to evolve, this is ONLY a GOOD thing for everything & everyone evolved in V.

There wasn't an episode this week, and looks like there isn't for the next two weeks either, according to my DVR.

I watched the first four episodes on Hulu to give it a fair shake, and I gotta say, I don't know. It's awfully trite. There's none of the thoughtful reinterpreting that BSG had. There was a snippet from a podcast after one of the episodes where the producers talked about how much they wanted to adapt it to make it relevant for a 2010 audience, e.g. by having a priest and an FBI agent. I mean, come on? Add a rabbi and it would be a bad 80s joke.

Also they keep going on about how beautiful the aliens are, but given that, their choices for some of the lead aliens -- the leader Anna and her second-in-command... seem questionable to me. Most of the human characters are better looking.

I might watch a few more episodes and see, though.

I agree with mkrishnan. I've watched all of the episodes and I am a fan of the original series. The writing isn't amazing. Perhaps they took this time to build up characters and 2010 is going to blow everyone away, but I would have hoped for a bit more from the last episode of 2009. I actually found it worse than 4400 (another Sci-Fi Joel Gretsch co-starred in), which I did really enjoy but again it started to become rather boring and ultimately went away.

I watched the 1st two episodes, and have the other two sitting on my DVR, but I haven't been motivated to watch them. I'll have to watch those, but based on the first two I wonder if the show will survive the hiatus until March.

I agree. Certainly not appointment TV but I'll probably still DVR it and watch. There is so little good TV these days.

That was the show! I knew I'd seen him before in a science fiction show.... Yeah, that was pretty bad also....

Agreed. I don't know if this idea was worth attempting a remake in the first place. The original was bad, and this is just slightly better. A shame- I would like to see this succeed.

It's the hair style, she looked great in Firefly. :p

One of these days I'll get around to watching that....

I have owned the Serenity movie DVD for a while and just Saturday rented the complete Firefly series.

I thought BSG started the gritty world with the docu-style camera angles. I was wrong.

I started watching V again last night since I have either missed an episode or caught the end of it. The V partner is the pilot in Firefly, so I am getting amused by all the different actors from other sci-fi shows.

Since I don't remember the details of the original series, the new one looks fresh and new to me. So far so good IMHO.

And there's a cylon in the FBI office, LOL!

I liked it more than I thought I would. Seems like they're front-loading the episodes -- bringing in the invasion a lot sooner than you'd think they would -- so if they're planning to be around at least two or three seasons, they'd better have a few other tricks up their sleeves.

Though frankly I like the pacing of this show better than Lost, which just

draaaaaaaaags

eeeeeeeeverything

oooooouuuut.

I don't expect V to be nearly as good as Babylon 5, but for pure entertainment, it'll do. It's light years better than the '80s series anyway.

Ok ... I mentioned this on the first page but its seems that many of you missed it, dismissed it, or thought i was off the brotha crazy train. But.

There are reasons for everything in this show that you need to think of:
* The beauty of all the aliens.
- Possible just simply for viewers & characters to see how ugly the V (vermon are).
- Ties into that status quo or the "In crowd". IF you think of the cosmetic industry, Hollywood, and what tabloid or fashion magazines do to us ... we all aspire to be beautiful. Beauty equals health (how good you look, even body building), and thus Beauty (at least females) give you opportunities, favors, and power over others. Beauty they say, is in the "eye of the beholder".

* Speech patterns.
- Anna's right hand man speaks very stearnly and odd to the reporter in the last show.
- Anna speeks eloquently and fluently. There is a reason for this. If any of you read Dune and understood "The Voice" will know that an eloquent speaker, with a beautiful voice can persuade others. Heck even Star Wars had the force with voice controlling the weak minded. We've already seen this in the first greeting, and again in the gift she gives to the V's "Bliss". Even the leader of the 5th Column succumbed to the Bliss. Comfort & pleasantness can in fact be a weapon.

* The handshake.
- I think it was in 3rd episode we saw a specific handshake between Anna's right hand man and the reporter or someone else. It was NOT a normal business like handshake, but with the thumb directly over the top side of the palm (not interlocked with the other person's thumb). This is KEY to this show. As you will see more and more V's will be penetrated into human life and areas of decisions or power (just like BSG's 12 cylons did on the 12 colony's).

This show can & will (hopefully) get better. They've got the ratings, now its time for the writing to get up to snuff of the potential. Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles did VERY well with the writing, acting, and script - it led to the last movie in many ways. I hope V The Arrival gets better with each season.

Brainfart: The Arrival may just be the title for the 1st season. The next season may be called The Insurrection/Infiltration or whatever; to tie the stages of take-over to genocide of the human race.

PS: Anna actually starred in BSG so you know her acting is good.

I think rather that none of these are at issue, and, instead, at issue is merely that you and I have different quality standards for the television we tolerate. Happily, there appear to be programs that amuse us both separately.

According to IMDB she (Morena Baccarin) wasn't in BSG. She was in Stargate SG-1 and The Ark of Truth and those shows aren't known for good acting.

oops sorry I was wrong.

Agreed. I still want this show to be better, and yes it does just breeze by. hopefully this show will improve and impress us both, if not well my loss right?
