A quick question: when you charge, do you have to take the iPhone out of the case or do you just open the flap and plug in the connector?

You just open the flap and plug in the connector to charge. Here's a pic of my old iPhone in the ivolution SP - hope this helps! I have never had a reason to take it out of the case - when I have, it looks brand new. The great thing about having the flap hinged on the bottom is that it does not get in the way of the camera.

I am planning to get another for my new phone, just as soon as I can decide on the color combo! :D (I am thinking purple with white stripe, for my white 3G. This one is vibrant green with light sky stripe.)

Ivolution Grip for 3G?

I have a generation 1 iPhone with a Vaja Ivolution Grip case. Quality is outstanding with just the right amount of protection and the case slides neatly into pocket or brief case. Minalamist case for sure.

Hope Vaja rolls out the grip for the 3G so I can bite on a 3G iPhone. Still have 11 months let on my Applecare warranty so guess it is a waiting game.

The grip case would do it for me, too. Anyone want to forward this thread to Vaja?;)

Wow... I'm glad I started this thread, as I managed to incite people to discuss the Vaja cases so much, some have ordered them, too.
At first I was a bit reluctant about having ordered the case due to the flap, but now I have no worries at all... not to mention the fact that it has the dark blue against the black background. Absolutely beautiful. :p
I count so much on the members of MacRumors' judgement that now I know that I made an excellent choice in ordering the case. Now I REALLY can't wait for it to arrive haha.

yeah, you infected us :( now we all are getting one hehe

I ordered my Vaja case on 14 July (Black leather with a red leather stripe & my name embossed) and received confirmation 24 July of shipping via Fedex from Argentina. Expected delivery in UK is quoted for 29 July. US$ 77.00 inc shipping. Should look quite cool with a black 16GB iPhone 3G and the pouch style will keep 'phone safe from scratches, although the plastic cases are very solid.

Is that the ivolution SP you ordered? Or the Slim Bag?

I ordered my ivolution SP for Iphone 3G on 4/7/08 and still no sign of it shipping yet!

I ordered one of these a week ago. They just look fantastic. I went black with a white stripe. Simple.

here is the one i had for my first gen phone...
black and dusty olive/khaki, understated, business-like. sold on ebay this week. interestingly, lots of folks watching the bidding.

ps... yes, thanks for starting this thread!

390kwt, did your case stretch with time? Just thought it looked as if it did from your pictures.

Had it a year and it was as tight as the first day. definitely not a worry. it is a tight-as-a-glove fit. The top cover is just off kilter because there was no phone in it when i took the pic.

i am really amazed at the craftsmanship. I don't know how they shape the leather and make it stiff to fit the phones curves. regardless... 43 days and counting...

I bought two of the SP cases mine is navy with the brighter blue stripe and my wife got the lavender with the cream strip. We can not wait to have these beautiful handcrafted cases for our iPhone 3G's!!! I hope they come quicker than 45 to 50 days!!!!

Jeff

Finally submitted my order;

Back: Caterina Dark Blue
Inside: Caterina Baby Blue

Personalization: No

Cannot wait to receive the package via FedEx.

You just open the flap and plug in the connector.

Damn I just ordered last week the Classic Pouch ! Now the Ivolution is available with clip !!! Wonder if they will let me change my order ??

Drop them an email as soon as you can. They may well let you change your order if you are quick enough.

To all: I've discovered that my Vaja case (pictured below with my Version 1 iPhone) fits my iPhone 3G perfectly well. I'm delighted!

I ordered mine as well:

ivolution SP for Apple iPhone 3G
Body: Caterina White
Stipe: Caterina Lemon Drop
Without Clip
Personalization: No

I was going for a black one, but I wanted to match the case with my white iPhone.

This thread made my mind up for me. I was going to order the Case Mate Naked Case thinking that would be cool, being transparent and all. I also was eyeing the Otterbox Defender Case. Both these cases are still not available as of this writing. Since I am willing to wait anyway, I decided to pull the trigger on the Vaja.

Would be curious to see if this thread would be where we would post our cases once we take delivery 45 days from now.

Ha! I gone for the exact colour combo as you. Can't wait for mine to arrive!

CD -- it really fits your 3G? Any compromises?

I think I love my Vaja more than my iPhone. I like the way it feels and smells. ooooooooooo

Honestly, all of you, you will love it when it comes! Positively delicious.

OK, here are some pics to show it with my 3G inside it.

It is not an absolutely perfect fit, as it was for my first iPhone, but it it is as near as damn it, and certainly good enough for me!

Good grief, cd3660! That does look nearly perfect!!!!

How weird -- if you want to order a Top SP for the first gen, it will take fifteen days. But for the 3G, it will take 45! So if you're willing to take a chance on the first gen version you can get it a month faster! Yikes! And if you go for basic black like I did you can have it in three days!

I take it that the 3G case delay is because they haven't fabricated one yet for the 3G and are trying to match it perfectly. But how much better can it be??

I take it the latch works well too?

As for the chrome bezel showing, that makes sense since the 3G is slightly wider. But my bezel shows slightly too (on my first gen case for my first gen phone) and I too like it!!!!

This is very interesting indeed. So maybe I could upgrade to the 3G after all and not worry about waiting for a new Vaja case??? Mmmmm.

I had a feeling that you might be tempted. For that reason I was a little hesitant about posting, but what the hell! I love my 3G even more than I loved my 1st iPhone. Spoil yourself!

Incidentally the clasp works fine, and can be adjusted manually by pressure being applied in the desired direction. I think that the leather on the Vaja case covers a bendable metallic (or similar) frame so minor adjustments can be achieved by such pressure.

i tried slipping the new 3G into the 1st gen case (shown previously) and it seemed to be too tight a fit, so i stopped. Looks like I might have been able to slide it in. Not sure I would opt for a first gen case on a 3G...
