Come and get some ladies. I'm going to go pwn some noobs after years of not playing this game. BOOM HEADSHOT! BOOM HEADSHOT! GET SOME GET SOME!!!! DIE! BWAHAHAHAHAHA! DIE!

Does anyone know if the skins will work for this version?

Good luck. Most of the servers are password protected.

Compared to Call of Duty 4?

How does Counter-Strike: Source compare to Call of Duty 4?

I'm really impressed by Call of Duty 4 (also the performance on Mac OS X is great) ad I'm wondering what's better in CS?

They are comparable (similar), right?

Hmm... Another game that's going to get crappy performance. I'll stick to this game in Windows ;).

Although, today was a bad day to buy this game. I've been playing the non-Steam version for years and decided to buy it. Apparently, there was an update to the game that made a lot of servers not allow people to connect to it.

' been looking forward to this since the first rumours of Steam on the Mac. Loved CS back in the day but switched and ditched my PC just after CS Source came out. DE dust anyone?

I got good performance running it on my i7 iMac .

Well, what do you consider "good"? I can easily get 80FPS at 1440x900 @ the highest possible settings (0xAA, 16xAF). I get about 90FPS with the benchmark. Run the game with -console and run cl_showfps 1. Tell me what you get and at what settings.

I'm guessing sometime after 2016, I'm starting to think this whole Steam for Mac is just a way for Valve to make money from old games. I'm not impressed so far to say the least.

Except that anyone who already owns the games on PC can now play them on Mac for free. They haven't made an extra $ from me with these Mac releases but they have definitely made me like them as a company much more then I already did.

.

Is it bad if I am considering getting this now (discounted) for a rainy day in... say... 12 months?

Jesus H, what a horrible server list it comes with.

I only get, oh, 20 or 30 servers listed, and like 95% of them are full. WTF? At least with TF2 there's a decent number of servers (sort of). Actually the matchmaking on both suck.

Is there another list of servers somewhere?

Well above 60 fps on a MBP Unibody '08.

Anything past 60 is useless unless you have a monitor with a higher refresh rate.

No!!! Just bought it for full price couple of days ago. :(
But all Valve needs to give me now is good performance on TF2. And then I'll need Garry's Mod for Mac.

Ok. I ran console and I was getting anywhere between 85 and 130 FPS in a 1600X900 Fullscreen with these settings :
Keep in mind the 27" i7 iMac is 16X9 too. But also I was on my own server without ANYBODY else in the game. I'm sure a game with a lot of players would reduce the FPS.

I really applaud Valve for working so hard to get apple, ati and nvidia to do some work on mac os x gaming.

Now, if EA would also release games next to windows...

Anyway, all steps are small, but Steam on Mac is a rather big step forward!

my GF is playing EA's Sims3 in her MacBookPro, and i can say it is the worse ported software i've ever seen.

glad valve went another way, especially if they can bring all the big players to help improving the platform

I have 'Counter Strike Anthology DVD' for PC, does anyone know if I need to buy a new license for this Mac version?

no, there was some way to put your serial numbers into the system and the games appear in the library. did that back in my windows-gaming days, so do not ask me how :) that's long long in the past

I bet you'd get an even higher frame rate in Windows. Oh well.

Help with its map

Hi, i downloaded it today and found few maps with it..
I want to play iceworld, anybody could tell me how to do it?

The most important online distribution channel for games, one of the most relevant game engines and one of the most successful and famous game franchises of all time have finally been ported to the Mac (and are available FREE OF CHARGE for all switchers), inviting the entire computer game industry to follow their example, and you're not impressed.

Wow. Just wow.

This would of been awsome 5 years ago but in 2010 no I'm not impressed. this is an ancient game I lost interest in a loooong time ago. If Valve wants to impress me they're going to have to release more recent titles. When is L4D2 going to be released 2016?
