Running this with nearly all settings maxed out (textures/shadows/resolution/reflection all maximum) on a 512MB 9600GT uMBP with an extremely smooth frame rate, on 10.6.3. It does occasionally freeze for a second every few minutes or so, but only on local games, not online games, which is weird!!

Can anyone direct me to some 'training servers'? This is my first keyboard/mouse FPS - I'm an Xbox 360 veteran! :D

"extremely smooth"? Care to clarify? Were you running the 9400M or 9600? Run the game with -console, set cl_showfps to 1, then take a screenshot of your "extremely smooth" frame rate.

It was extremely smooth on the 9600 to the point that I couldn't distinguish at all between frames. I'd estimate it was at least 60FPS if my eyes are anything to go by.

I'd do that command for you, but you'll have to tell me how to do it!

Right click on Counter-Strike Source and go to Properties. Then look at the rest of the pics. When you start the game, the console should already be open. Type cl_showfps 1 and press enter. Go into a game.

Better on PC

I have a mid-2006 iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16GHz with 2GB of RAM and the ATI 1600X video card.

On OS X, the game ran quite bad even when all the video settings were set to "low".

Hopefully, when buying the Mac version you can download and install the PC version as well. (makes sense since it's the same game)

I installed on Bootcamp and it runs really smooth with video settings set to "medium".

I guess they didn't do such a good work porting it to the Mac? I don't know..

It's the graphics drivers for Mac OS X. Apple is supposedly working with ATi, Nvidia, an Intel to make better drivers.
