Would be sweet. Need a few more native Mac releases.

Attn: Sid Meier.

Civ5 for Mac simultaneous release - native version - no crap Cider etc.

Blizzard does it and I think they make a bit of money.

Blizzard does what? On my MBP (late 2008) WoW in OSX runs at about 1/2 the frame rate of XP in bootcamp. Surely they did not do a native port of WoW.

Isn't this game like….. really old?

So is Gone with the Wind but you still see people watching it now :p.

They, especially the Counter-Strike series, are really popular because it's a simple game that you don't really forget how to play. It's like the Tetris of gaming (not like revolutionary, but something that you'd just play to play).

Anyway, I can't wait! I will not have to have Windows on my MacBook Pro! :D

ZOMFG! I am SO excited about this! I LOVE Half life but the thought of rebooting into Windows machines my skin crawl. I still haven't beat the game because I just don't want to taint my Mac Pro with a Windows install.

This is something that OS X has needed for a long long time. Sure, World of Warcraft is an amazingly popular game available on Mac but thats really about it. Most of the EA game ports are crap and poorly done. I hope Apple is teaming up with them to get serious about games on Mac.

This could really tip the scales.

"I repeat, Gordon Freeman has returned! It is essential he gets to Mac OS X!"

simultaneous Mac and PC releases of Half Life 2 episode 3? or Half Life3?!
I can dream

Don't think of it in such a limited fashion. What this likely means is that Valve is all in on Mac Games. Not just the "old" ones, but new ones as well.

Yes, Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2 are about 3 years old, but still very successful and very popular today. Team Fortress 2 is still getting new content.

However, having Steam on the Mac would open the door to newer titles also being made available. Valve could take the first steps by releasing their entire catalogue, including recent titles like Left for Dead 2.

Simply awesome.

I don't think so, but they've definitely postponed the release of episode 3 for this.
And it's a good reason :D

Oh, Valve: they’re playing us like a harp this week, and frankly we don’t mind a jot when it’s this much fun. While everyone’s busy nattering about the Portal 2 (OR IS IT?) ARG, they slip a little something extra into the RPS inbox. That’ll be the picture above, then. Which you’ll want to click on right away, in order to admire it in its full bigness. The instant response from all of us, aside from excited and grateful cooing noises, was “guh? But what does it mean?” We’re not very clever sometimes.

Then we worked out exactly what it means: Steam is, as has been recently rumoured, finally coming to the Apple Macintosh personal computer system. At least… so it implies. OR DOES IT?

How exciting!
