Well, then I'm afraid that you are one of those Americans who don't recognize humor, irony and sarcasm when they bite them in the butt.
Hmm... Could that poster have possibly been joking? Just maybe?

Don't kid yourself, both companies prioritize windows...

This is mostly because Apple doesn't care about gaming.

'Valve tried to be Blizzard' Hah, Blizzard is owned by a large conglomerate and subject to so much garbage that it is deteriorating in my opinion, granted I still remain a fan. The fact that their titles run better on macs (as opposed to valves titles) is definitely not what makes Blizzard great. Both companies titles run better on PCs.

Valve has not sold its soul.

Actually, blizzard sometimes includes additional features with their Mac version. WoW for mac has movie recording for example. They definitely do make the Mac a high priority. Also, I meant what blizzard was, not is. They have deteriorated with time; I have little interest in playing most of their games anymore. They used to be a quality company that dished out amazing games. Few in number, but high quality, much like Apple in fact. They were a great match for each other.

The sad truth about both valve and blizzard's games running better on PCs, is something that is completely out of their control. The OpenGL implementation is really not that great. It has come a long way, but it still has a long way to go.

Uhm.. it's 2012 dude.. can't pay with your chickens anymore...

I was thinking about gift cards, which you buy from a store with physical bills.

maybe because we can already run multiplatform on a Mac? dual boot, dude.

If you dual-boot, you're already using Windows, not Mac. And it's just a pain in the butt, especially when you want your personal files and stuff there for certain reasons. There are also heightened risks in Windows; my Windows virtual machine in VirtualBox got a virus that wiped the whole thing out.

Not sure if you're aware but TF2 is one of the most resource intensive games. It will not work on a 2008 MBP, thats for sure. Put it this way. It struggles on my 09 Mac Pro.

Dont blame the developer for your own out of date hardware, in this case ;).

What! TF2 runs and is playable on my now retired 2004 dell inspiron XPS with a Pentium 4 3.4 GHZ and ati mobility radeon 9700! Valves games have always been rather forgiving hardware wise. My '07 C2D still plays everything I throw at it, granted it has a recently upgraded graphics card.

I would wager that if that '08 MBP was running tf2 in windows that it would do just fine.

God bless you all for trying to game in OSX :D

I think Civ5 is generally slow regardless of expansions. I bought the bundle on sale a few months back (via Steam) and once the game gets going it can take 30+ seconds for a turn. Towards the end of the game I'm waiting over a minute! This is on a quad core Mac Pro too! I've seen that others have had the same issue.

It's a great game, just massively flawed by poor planning on the developers side.
Fraxis/2K had been steadily improving time between turns up until the release of Gods and Kings. Maybe it is the additional game mechanics that have bogged it down. Spreading religion and improving water tiles cause the game to choke and you are not even between turns!

Two years ago, five percent of steam users were Mac Based... If that figure hasn't changed (doubtful considering the number of Mac games has increased considerably since then), then going by the number of total mac users in the past 48 hours there are 209, 482 people using Steam on OSX.

Doh!

The ignorance is strong in this Mac Fan Boi.

The more you know! And this was from my friends that were shocked that I had Steam installed on my MacBook.

I wonder if they will require you to "log on steam" to use apps too... Main reason why I simply don't use Steam.

Some developers sell their products so you can use it on as many computers as you own (there are restrictions, but I don't own more than 5 computers), for example, like buying OS X Mountain Lion.

However, buying the same game in Steam simply lock me to only be able to use it on one computer at a time, unless I want to keep logging on both machines and sometimes that is not possible.

Hopefully, Steam will also realize several improvements they can make so their solution becomes a bit more attractive.

Only actual gamers know what Steam is. Regular people will stick to MAS and Windows 8 marketplace.

Let me know when Gabe and the Valve team release Portal 3, Half Life 3, etc.

Maybe Gabe has to go back to Preschool, and learn to count to three?

Curious... when would you ever need to open up your steam account on 2 separate machines at the same time for a game?

You're very smarmy, aren't you? Too much to know that Dag is a big gamer and was probably at worst 50/50 in terms of seriousness/humor in regard to his comment.

Thank god.

Why thank God? Say OS X 10.9 was dire to the point of unusable, Apple had messed up big time and people were jumping to alternative platforms since Apple don't support their older OSs. You'd have to repurchase your software if you bought it all from the App Store. With Steam, load Windows (or Linux if they are going to start supporting it like they say), redownload and go. Simple.

Chances are OS X 10.9 will be fine for the majority of users. But you never know.
