I made a reservation for a rose gold Verizon 6S Plus around 10:15am EST for 10-10:30am launch day. Going to go to the Apple Upgrade Program way since I currently use Cricket and it makes the most sense, especially including AC+.

I did just check the reservation site again and no rose gold Pluses for any carrier at any Apple Store within a 3 hour radius (5 stores). No issues with stock on other colors I've noticed.
Good luck with using Cricket. The fine print for the upgrade program specifically says that you need to have service with AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, or T-Mobile.

It appears that relatively moderate demand will leave plenty in Apples inventory for launch day.

I looked for a 64GB 6S+ yesterday and they were back ordered. Went online half an hour ago and they were back in stock. Placed an order easily.

I would bet 100 USD that Apple has sold more 6s preorders in the past day than they sold for 6 in this time.
They might have, at the same time I can see with most carriers moving away from subsidized pricing and people seeing the whole price of the phone this time the demand might have gone down. The first gen iPhone didn't sell that well until apple dropped the price shortly after launch.

At this point everything I've checked is 3-4 weeks out, even space gray 16GB(I haven't looked at every possible variation).
I'm pretty confident that they did a much better job this year of making sure they had plenty of stock. I'm sure the sales numbers will be the highest ever when the dust settles.
I dunno, this year was pretty uneventful unless you're interested in the 3D touch features. It's of course an S year and that will help but I think last year with the two larger models would be more impressive. If there is a hype, it's the 2yr contracts for the 5S being up. But it seemed relatively easy for us to get what we wanted this year assuming we logged in early. It wasn't a 3 minute sellout that we've experienced before.

They've been mass producing it for months I don't think supply constraints will be that severe with the exception of rose gold phones

I noticed a similar thing yesterday. I was looking for an in-store pickup. Early yesterday morning one store was showing it had none for pickup on Friday. I checked again in the afternoon and that same store had them available. So I guess they're diverting stock to where the demand is?

The other factor could be decreasing demand? More people are on plans that save you money if you keep your phone past 2 years (as opposed to the old plans which charged you the same regardless of whether your phone was paid off or not) That, and old phones are pretty capable now. I know people who are quite happy with an old 4s. I have a few myself as spares. They're good phones.

They still have every color of the 6s available for a launch date except Rose Gold....BY adding china to the pre orders i thought that would make it even harder but since the 6plus launch, everybody feels they still have a new phone and don't need a newer one. Me on the other hand need 3d touch in my life...

Here's the thing - if they added China to the list of pre-orders - they would need to be able to fill that demand. So they probably made a lot more. Lastly, China likes BIG phones. The 6S Plus mostly. Not many want a small 6S. That explains a few things there.

A lot has changed under the hood. This is a significant update. Camera, LTE Advanced. WiFi, processor, M9
6/6+ has had LTE-A support already...

They already support Carrier Aggregation, VoLTE, ViLTE, etc already. 6S/6S+ adds more bands to the mix.

But yes, I am getting the 6S+ for B30 support!

I preordered a 6s+ 128gb space black on the :apple:Upgrade Program at 9:12am this morning and got a 9/25 1pm reservation. They must have a bunch of them this time. ;)

What is nice is the reservations and pre orders have always been different inventory's. That's why people would preorder and sometimes have to wait a week or two but with reservations. Those are just the store stock and people can just walk in and get one after the launch date. I used to see people contemplating cancelling their pre-order after going to the store and seeing that their is inventory ready to sell but they are still waiting on their pre-order.

I am glad they do seem to have more product overall this year.

Not true, just checked and gold 6 in 64 g is shipping in release day right now

Depends, I just checked online through Apple. And anyone wanting the plus model either 64 or 128 for Verizon and AT&T has to wait. Course it's fluid so that could change. But for now the only ones that seem to be in stock for shipping are the smaller screen.

Apple has a super strong supply chain and has no doubt prepared for this launch like no other. Unlike the 6 launch, Apple has had ~1 year to work out the tooling, manufacturing, etc. The 6 --> 6s is just minor changes in the process, so no doubt that they have a huge stockpile to sell and can produce them quickly and efficiently.

I would bet 100 USD that Apple has sold more 6s preorders in the past day than they sold for 6 in this time.
I doubt that. The 6 was the first larger screen and new design. I think there was far more hype around the 6 than 6s.

Yeah. Most ppl don't upgrade to the "s" version if they just got a new phone the year before. Some ppl might be on the "s" upgrade cycle. But there isn't much to the average user to want to replace their 6 to a 6s. Now most ppl here may be more tech savvy and realize the under the hood upgrades. But your avg user won't bother this cycle to upgrade their phone. Hell Jimmy Kimmel did a bit where he was pawning a 2007 iPhone as the new one. And there was actually ppl oohing and awing over it! Rofl!

This means I can walk into a store on the 25th and walk out with brand new 6s.

Sounds good! I wasn't as brave and pre ordered. Went the old "one bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" line of thinking. Now, here is something I might try (since I'm in the queue for an October delivery) is to go to the AT&T store, then if they have the model I pre ordered, cancel my pre order (can do that through the app) and buy it there. That's assuming the cancellation, on the spot, doesn't interfere with me buying it right then and there.

It's either Apple didn't make enough and screwed it up. They should know better. Use that war chest to make better production lines. Or, Apple is falling. Sales are slow. They're losing their mojo. Every time they set new records and every time ppl act like its the end of the world. Apple can't win.

I for one am glad myself and many others got the phones they wanted. I'm leaning towards Apple increased their inventory and prepared for this release.
I hope that you are right about Apple increasing their inventory. It would be difficult for me to believe, with all of the tools/data based on past sales, they did not adjust their launch inventory appropriately. I gave them a "pass" on the Apple Watch debacle since it was the initial release of a brand new product line.

Where, specifically, did you look?
