Snow leopard plsI know I'm in the minority but I'd love for a Retroactive-type program that changes the entire interface and makes the OS look more like a computer than an iPhone... I miss Catalina...

and this is the problem about ppl preferring a 'certain perfect OS'; some will say it was snow leopard (it was a great moment, way back when); someone else thinks it's catalina, someone else, big sur. probably someone out there who misses jaguar, or OS 7.6.Snow leopard pls

they are making it easier for users by unifying how things work across systems. just because we are used to the old way doesn't make it betterWhy make things simple, and keep things that don't need changing the way they are, when you can artificially make forced changes that complicates things and confuse the users unnecessarily? Well, Apple?

yes, a good idea, since lots of people here do like the new setting (or, at least, are getting used to it).😒 Ffs... Try reading the rest of the posts in the thread first, before replying to a several months old post.
But did they? From a usability standpoint, starting after Mountain Lion they moved in the wrong direction more often than notwhat (in my opinon), they should do: move forward, (…). refine things. and so on....

this is all theory, speculation. opinion. we don't know what goes on behind the scenes at apple, but, personally, i am going to assume that there's a team of people who work on the OSes, that there are checks & balances... and that the new settings is where apple wants to go.They are not making it easier. They're forcing a square hole into a round peg.
Why is there a need to "unify" systems that are fundamentally different in how they are interacted with, the devices they run on (laptop/desktop vs phone), etc?
No one ever explains _why_ or _how_ they arrived at these conclusions. All we hear are Apple marketing slogans. If anything, the implication is that people are just too simple minded to grasp the concept of "different devices, different purposes."
I have never even seen a concept screen shot of a development environment running on a phone - unless that concept involves basically turning it into a desktop with external monitors and a keyboard.
