Can you point to the fine print on Verizon's web site? I know that the various media sources state free 16GB, but that could very well be a way to get page views. Most people don't wants to hear $99 for a 64GB iPhone. They want FREE.
Also, unless Verizon explicitly states "Offer good on 16GB iPhone 6 Standard only" I would certainly question if it is available on the 64 and 128.
Heck, I would question it anyway. If they want to keep your business, they should extend the offer to make customers happy.

I can't even find that it's still up any more. Can anyone else?

i called and they didnt seem to know much about the deal. i cant imagine they would give $200 for iphone 4 but who knows. they want contracts.

I'd like to know this as well. I was first told about this by a vzw rep on the phone today but the details were sketchy. I plan to get a 128GB and my dad wants a 64GB so if it only applies to the 16GB model, no thanks.

I'm concerned that the promotion had ended or been scrapped though because the info seems nowhere to be found on the website at the moment.

I found this on the Yahoo Tech discussion about the deal:
I just called my local store, the credit is a sliding scale dependent on the device... it's up to $200 credit - the older the model, the less the credit...

Chat session with a support rep.

Here is my chat session with a support rep. They are saying 16GB only. But, that was after she confirmed that buying a 64GB was OK. So again, some mixed results. But afterwards stated 16GB only again.

You are now chatting with 'Abria'
Abria: Hello, welcome to Verizon Wireless sales chat! My name is Abria.
Abria: I'll be more than happy to assist you today.
Griz: I am interested in learning more about the $200 trade in of an older iPhone toward a new iPhone 6.
Griz: I would like to buy the phone at presale this friday. When will I do the trade in?
Abria: Yes with the trade in you will be able to trade in your iphone 4,4s,5c, or 5s. You would be sent a $200.00 gift card and this way you will be able to get the phone free.
Abria: You will be able to trade in on 9/12/14
Griz: I do not want to trade my current phone before I receive the new one. So do I just preorder, wait to receive it on the 19th and then go in to a verizon store to perform the trade and activation?
Griz: I want to order online. Not in store. Is that possible?
Abria: Yes, you will be able to do this now.
Griz: Sorry, not sure I follow. I will be able to get the $200 credit if I trade the phone at a store when I activate the new one on a 2 year plan?
Griz: Can I pre-order from Apple then? Or do I need to order through the Verizon site and set up a trade in at that time?
Abria: You can pre order online with us on friday.
Griz: Can I order a 64GB model and still get the $200 credit with a trade in? I realize it will not be free, but still, $200 off.
Abria: Yes, that is correct.
Abria: Hi, I'm just checking in, how is everything going?
Griz: OK, just want to be 100% sure before I pre-order as I have been reading mixed answers to that question. Some saying it was only on the 16GB model.
Abria: Now the pre order is only the 16gb model.
Griz: You mean the credit is only good on the 16GB model? Just a second ago you said it was ok to order the 64GB and get the $200 credit. Which is it?
Abria: We are still getting new information on the device I'm sorry for this, but it would only be on the 16gb model.
Abria: We are just getting information on this device and are trying our best to provide our cusotmer with the correct information.
Griz: Thank you. Just surprising that I can't spend more and still get the discount. But if that is how it is. I appreciate the information.
Abria: Welcome.

I found this on the Yahoo Tech discussion about the deal:
What are the requirements to participate in this offer?

You must be purchasing either iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus on a new Verizon Edge agreement, 2 year contract, or when you pay full retail price. If you do not purchase iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus, you’ will receive the normal trade-in value for your device.

Your iPhone trade-in can be from any carrier & must be in good working condition:

Phone can turn on and off.
LCD screen is free of cracks and functioning correctly.
Phone and connecting ports are free of visible corrosion and water damage.
Phone and charging port are free of cracks and dents, and not missing any pieces or chunks (not including cords or accessories).
For iPhones running iOS 7 or higher, the Find My iPhone feature must be deactivated (turned off) before iPhone is traded in.

Your account must be in good standing to participate in this trade-in offer.

Early Edge and Edge Up customers are not eligible for this promotion at this time.

This makes it pretty clear that a cracked screen is not considered by Verizon to be "good working condition." Whether they will give you any credit is another matter that would have to be addressed by your local store.

EDIT: Here's a link for appraising your trade-in value. This site still gives some value for cracked screens, but not nearly as much (16GB iPhone 5S goes from $300 to $50ish).

As well as any part of the phone cracked...

I just ordered a $4 replacement back glass off eBay. I'd say that small investment is worth a $200 trade-in. Front's don't cost much more to replace, and if you are somewhat competent it's not that bad to do.

Verizon's new iPhone 6 $200. gift card offer

How come everyones talking today about this new Verizon offer of a $200. gift card if you turn in your old iPhone for a new iPhone 6 but no where is there any official statement online from Verizon offering this?

It was on their website yesterday. It's not on there today for some reason (I'm guessing they received an influx of questions on it and are in the process of letting employees know about it). Nothing worse than employees not knowing anything about their companies promotions. It's been reported in the news and elsewhere too, it'll be back up, it's only a matter of time.

Huh? It has to be EDGE?

No.. it says "You must be purchasing either iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus on a new Verizon Edge agreement, 2 year contract, or when you pay full retail price. If you do not purchase iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus, you’ will receive the normal trade-in value for your device."

Hadn't seen this before starting my chat session with a Rep. Can't believe they are still clueless when the information is right on their site. Doesn't say anything about 16GB only.
Looks rather thorough, but it really sucks that it is only for 2 year Edge agreements. I was hoping to keep my current plan. Oh well. Might have to crunch some numbers now over the 2 years to see what the cost difference is.
Thanks for the info.

so i just called again. this time got a person who knew about it. she said its for the 4, 4S, 5 would get $200 Gift card, and the 5S would get $300. She even said they would move up my date from Oct 28th to this friday for the preorder. She gave me her email to follow up with her Friday and she will process for me. Seems to good to be true, but if it is, im turning in my old 4 that my kids play with....

It is for EDGE, 2 year agreement or full retail price. You have 3 options...

OK, I can trade my 5s for $300 meaning I could get a full-retail 6 for $349. For the first time a full-retail option looks possible.

Too many numbers to crunch - my brain is going to explode and I was a finance/accounting/business statistics major!

Still only the one phone

Is the deal still only for the 16gb 6 or can you get the $200 / $300 on any of the models?

I asked if it applied to the 16gb only and she said she didnt see that listed anywhere. she did seem to be knowledgeable of this too. I called and said cancel service to get to retention. I seem to deal with people that know more in retention. not sure if they get the info sooner or what..

----------

I was just thrilled it applied to the 4 and that she would move up my renewal date. I guess i will find out if its true friday. i will post my results.

I need to watch this offer. I have family on my plan that can take advantage of it.

Would you recommend doing this online over the phone or at a store? Seems like the key is getting the right person.

This might be a dumb question, but can the gift card be applied to a monthly bill? It doesn't seem like it can be used at the time of purchase if you are doing a pre-order.

Also, if you go on their website it tells you how much you will get for each type of phone depending on condition. There is no mention of 16gb only.

I'm not willing to call verizon right now because the reps never know anything. It always takes several calls or a long conversation.

Another wrinkle: If I trade in my 5s in exchange for a $300 card, will I be on the hook for the $300ish early termination fee? Or does this go away because of the new contract?

In other words, is the gift card intended to offset the ETF?

That does make it pretty clear. I wish it had been up/available earlier. Thanks for the great find! Your update is valuable too. Thanks again.

You're not terminating your contract with Verizon, you are just getting a different phone? I would assume no ETF.
