I'm right there with you. CSR Bobby does not believe that anyone really got a 9/16 shipping update, and they might be lying...
 
I called and she said the same thing. The 23rd is the ship date even though the order says deliver by date of the 23rd. smh. csrs dont know jack. excited but wud like the early order to count for something

The stuff CSR say to people calling these last two days is astounding sometimes. Its insane.
If you are worried TRY THE REFERENCE NUMBER trick at UPS if you ordered from apple.

Yeah I've tried confirmation number, order number, phone number, nothing works. I'm fairly certain they just skipped over me, based on the other order's times from this thread.

They'll send you a bag and instructions in the box with your new phone, you use the box from the new phone to put the old phone in and send it back. SIM out of the phone, phone in the bag, bag in the box, slap on their shipping label and toss it in a bin of whatever carrier it belongs to, done and done and you aren't without a phone for any time. This is what they've always done for me and I've done multiple 50% upgrades.

When they say trade they are referring to when you own your device and are selling it back to Verizon for credit. They give you a box for that. Being on a phone payment plan and doing the upgrade and giving your current phone back is something different. I'm just going to use the box my new phone comes in to send the old one back. I imagine there will be instructions and maybe even a return label in the box.
 
So the early boxes that come separate are for those who own their phone outright?
I'm assuming so, I've not actually owned my phone since 2009. I always early upgrade and trade in, including this time where I was nowhere near 50% because we just upgraded in March. They've always put the stuff for the old phone in the box with the new one for me and for my husband too.

CSR Bobby conceded and admitted that some people may get an early shipment (9/16). He proceeded to tell me that my 12:16a EST order of 7+ MB and 7 MB was WAY too late to expect 9/16...
 
I will say too, one time the post office lost my husband's trade in lol it was this whole rigamaroll, for some reason his IMEI number didn't match his MEID number so they thought he sent them back the wrong phone and mailed it back to us. We sorted it out and mailed it back a second time, and it got lost in Cleveland. It was ridiculous lol. Luckily since Verizon could see the tracking as well and see it stopped in Cleveland, they didn't charge us for the phone.
 
I ordered via app loophole.. I'm pushed back a week aswell.
