Wow you were right. I just called Verizon and told them what I read online and the woman said that it's correct and she miraculously was able to order a sim card for me & I should get it monday because they already sent out heir shipments. Ugh, I've been calling since this morning.. This blows. oh well..

I just paid for Saturday shipping...I'll be extremely $&*(%&$( if it doesn't show up. $21.74 to use this device!

I paid for the $14 option. Lol. She said Monday, Tuesday the latest from FedEx. I'll let you know how it goes!

I paid for tomorrow but haven't gotten a confirmation or tracking info yet. But I plan on having them credit back the $21.00 I had to pay to get the phone to work since they are the ones that can't get their systems or stories straight...

That's what I'm saying. Every time I call I get a different answer. If it was never going to work from the beginning because I needed a new sim, why were they even trying. What are you going to do once you get the new sim?

I'm going to try and do it online. If It doesn't work there I will call them. The stores around me seem to be clueless. Every single person in the company has a different answer but have had the worst luck with the people in the stores. I hope everyone calls them up that had to do this and make them credit us back for the shipping

Yeah I think I'll go to the store, I'm done doing it over the phone. Since I used someone else's account, will I need their info? The phone won't need to be activated on their account because its a new sim right?

I don't think you will need their info. Because all they should do is activate your number on the sim and update your account with the IMEI if it isn't already.

So I just went into an Apple store to exchange my 16 for a 32, to get a new sim since i'm impatient, and they had a sim! I just called Verizon and they got me all activated. I had to wait half an hr for my 5 to get activated and in the process I couldn't make or receive calls on either device for a while. So if anyone reading this was unable to get a sim and needs one I can mail you that extra one when it gets here Monday...

That sucks. I think out of the thousands of phones I deal with at work I think I ran into one bad sim card lol. It's rare man you should play the lottery.

I did and Verizon then tried and said I need a new sim. When I get the new sim, it shouldn't be programmed with any phone number right?

Lol. I think it was Verizon who burnt it by trying to move it from one account to another. In hindsight, I have no idea why they even bothered trying that.

And i tried to cancel my order earlier today and they told me i couldn't lol, maybe bc i overnighted it. But PM your info and hopefully it gets here monday and then i'll send it on over to you.

I did the same thing, ordered using my dads phone # and upgrade to get it for $199. His line on the My Verizon page now has a notice on it that says Verizon has received notice that a purchase has been made with this line and to activate the line when the device is received

I've heard do not turn the iPhone 5 on when you get it, call Verizon, replace the SIM etc.

If I just simply activated the iPhone 5 on the Verizon website to MY line would this work? The phone on his line is still active.

I did my upgrade the exact same way, on my dad's line. I made the mistake of turning on the ophone and then it activated with his number. I had to get an entirely new sim and then called verizon, gave them the new sim and iphone IMEI, and now I'm fine. He had an old flip phone so all i had to do it dial *228 option 1 on his phone and then his was working fine. Hope this helps.

So basically, don't turn on the phone and activate it to any other number other than my own?
 
Wtf. I was told I had to go to a store. Not one rep offered to order one for me.

I called to get a SIM sent to me too and they said they couldn't do that. They suggested going to the store and asking for one. I went to the store and they said they had plenty, but they wouldn't give me one because I didn't bring the device in with me.

I'm just going to go to some Verizon stores today and tomorrow and see if they can do anything. If not, I'll have one mailed.

From what I've gathered, I'm going to need a new sim no matter what. The hunt is on!
