Ok cool. When I receive the phone I'm gonna leave it off, go to activate and switch device on the Verizon page and try it that way. Hopefully it works....

But I'm not so sure this is the case. My sim was programmed with the account I used to purchase the phone when I got it. From what I gathered on the forum and from Verizon, I was going to need a new sim anyway.

If transferring upgrade to another line on same account - > just need to not turn the phone off and you can activate the SIM for your line.

If transferring upgrade to another line on same account and you activated the phone by turning it on -> Need new SIM card

If transferring upgrade to another PLAN (buddy upgrade) -> Need new SIM regardless because the SIM before activation is already tied to the account (not the line)

If anyone was wondering, no my Saturday NOON shipping never arrived.

So me and my sister preordered our iPhones (3:15am, we specifically got up early to do this). We got our phones on time yesterday around 12:00pm EST.

So here's the story: I'm on a plan with 4 people including myself. My sister and I and then my parents. We used my parents upgrades to get the iPhones so naturally we needed the numbers swapped or the upgrades swapped (however they had to do it) This was an absolute pain in the ass!! We went to a Verizon store only to be told that we had to activate the phones on my parents numbers and then wait 24 hours for them to be switched to our numbers and data. Of course we were pissed and didn't see that as acceptable so we went to an Apple store. They managed to help us out by giving us new SIM cards activated with our numbers (there was also a Verizon rep there as well who helped us). It took 6 hours to get that straightened out so I feel your pain OP. In the end it was Apple who helped us get what we needed. (Btw apple stores have extra sims for anyone that has this issue)

Thanks for clearing that up.

Has anyone had trouble activating online or over the phone even without turning the phone on first?

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned or not, but you guys DO realize that whenever a 4G SIM is deactivated from an MDN, it goes into what's called an "Aging" process which means it takes 24 hours for it to become available again to use on another MDN?

Essentially this means that once you take your Nano SIM OFF the initial number, you have to wait 24 hours before you can activate it on another...

EDIT** Attached are the verbatim SIM aging rules sent to the retailers
