The last time I tried an iPad promo at Verizon they charged me but never sent the iPad. After nearly 2 months I had to do a credit card chargeback.

So glad I kept my 3 XRs reading about this bait and switch allegation by T-Mobile. Pays to be informed.

Technically still with Sprint with T-Mobile SIMs. Can’t wait to see what T-Mobile tries to “offer” to get me to migrate completely over to them.

And now Verizon is doing the same BS?? Maybe the government had something when they spoke about lack of competition before the T-mobile/Sprint merger was approved.

On very Verizon corporate store, they will look at you like a deer in headlights when you asking about that promotion. It can only be found on a special Verizon promotion website.

Verizon said my pristine S21 Ultra was rejected, not what they “expected”. Not full value, not reduced amount, and no, they didn’t return it even. Was for credit to account, not even a real rebate. Shoddy. Scam. Fraudulent business. Scalping their own customers.

So it extends to their entire “business model,” not just the Apple + iPad deal mentioned.

I’m going back sadly to AT&T when this contract is over.
don't expect AT&T to treat you any better. they all use the same third-parties for trade ins, stick with the carrier that gives you the best cell signal.

Absolutely agree. In my experience there is extreme incompetence at all these carriers equally when it comes to rebates, in-store service, etc. Just pick the carrier with the service/plan that works best for you.

I see all trade-ins and rebates across the board as a scam. Even at an apple store. I sell my old devices on CL/EBay, it’s a little more work but you get way more money, and the device gets a second life by being re-used which is much better environmentally than even recycling/refurbishing. Win win for all.

I got actually concerned that I wouldn't be able to order my iPad Pro without having to sign a carrier agreement for it. Int he end, it wasn't a problem but I did not want to HAVE to sign up for one. I'd rather have that option. But it's not unheard of for a teleco to 'cheat' on rewards and refunds. My mom got screwed by Frontier when she closed out her account. She had a credit, and they said they would send her a 'Visa gift card', and of course she never got it. I had to call several times to try to get one shaken loose from their tight fist. It was for just over $100, so worth the fight. It FINALLY showed up. Good grief... Getting money back from them shouldn't be such a battle... That's why I didn't trust AT&T for their rebates for buying a new iPhone. Yeah, no. Bitten way to many times to fall for that one...

TMobile totally sucks. My daughter signed up for a trade in program for her old phones to get new ones. The program sounded great $800 per phone. She is still waiting, phone calls, emails, nada T-Mobile sucks

I had to fight with Verizon for about 5 months until they finally gave me my $200 rebate for my 12.9" M1 iPad Pro. One guy said 6 weeks, another gal said 12 weeks, and the final person I spoke to said 16 weeks. All in all I got my rebate in October, 5 months after the original May purchase date.
How did you get it? I gave up after i kept asking them numerous times.

Add apple to the mix. They ran with the marketing on their website. Have to own it.

Apple will at least give you a chance to have your device returned if you don't agree with their trade-in value. I don't mind private sale, but we're talking popular phones we spent thousands on. Why expose yourself to the dark corners of eBay.

a Verizon spokesperson told Bloomberg that the iPad rebate program was running "as it should for eligible Verizon customers."
The Verizon spokesperson added, "We wanted to promise discounts without delivering, and as far as we can tell the rebate program was a huge success."

A T-Mobile spokesperson added "We frequently change our offers to give customers the best value. T-Mobile customers should download our targeted advertising app to redeem a 50% discount off one NFT of a pretzel published in a magazine that couldn't sell at an airport."

Always read the fine print, the promotion is clear and concise, it’s just the reps who fail to explain this in detail, any discounts from retailers is usually credits discounted from your phone bill, especially if it was a gift card.

They should end it for the Apple Watch rebate, too since they couldn't get this right either! Experienced a total nightmare trying to get a rebate from Verizon for a brand new Apple Watch Series 7 activated on a new line. I succeeded after many hours of fighting Verizon trying to prove that my watch was eligible per the terms Apple outlined.

Apple’s own trade in program is just as flawed. A lot of complaints against the sheisty 3rd party company that Apple contracts with to run it. Many people say it takes a long time to get the credit, and many state that they simply keep the trade in and say it wasn’t worth anything. In my own experience, i got the credit but it took way longer than they said, and it took multiple calls to them and Apple to get it cleared up. So if you want to get mad at the smartphone companies, then you need to get mad at the sheisty mothership too, that being a 3 trillion dollar cheap, stingy, Apple.

I had success w/ VZW rebates in the winter of '19 when I ported over numbers from AT&T and then again in the fall of '20 but terrible luck w/ this particular promotion when I purchased my 2021 M1 iPad 12.9. First I had to search for the rebate form then after weeks got a vague message saying there was trouble processing my request and then checking status showed I was declined. It took me multiple calls and transfers to find a representative that was willing to help me. They finally took ownership and requested an appeal and finally issued a credit after 2 weeks of email and phone exchanges.

I just purchased a new Apple Watch w/ a similar promotion but not so sure I will be applying.

I came out ahead and got paid to upgrade my phone by stacking Verizon subsidized upgrade loophole after it was eliminated + Samsung and Apple trade-in offers. Knock on wood but haven't had any trade-in issues in general yet but I preemptively cover my bases to prevent them from scamming me.

I never do phone purchases through the carriers. Only Apple store or Apple.com. The sales personnel at carriers are sleazy and try to scare u into buying a bunch of attachments and protection plans you don’t need. It’s utter nonsense.

I recently purchased a 13 and traded in my SE all through Apple.com and the trade in was smooth as butter. They sent me a prepaid UPS box to put the phone in, and 5 days later got a $180 credit posted back to my credit card
This was for the iPad even if purchased from Apple directly. I did this and then activated on TMO. They initially denied the claim but a quick phone call got it sorted.

Oddly enough, the iPhone trade-in offer was the one that T-Mobile got right WITHOUT me having to call them. The $500 bonus plus the trade-in value was more than I could have sold the iPhone 12 for separately. The iPad and Apple Watch promos required me to follow up after initially getting rejected.

I had to fight Verizon for them to honor the $800 (over 24 months) iPhone rebate - one Verizon CS agent even said the whole program didn’t even exist and that I needed to contact Apple (despite screenshots of my receipt). It wasn’t until I threatened (to the 5th CS rep) to file an FCC complaint did the credits start showing up.

This iPad credit was difficult to find, with the Apple’s link to VZ effectively broken. Took an hour of googling to find it in my VZ app notifications. Hope it is issued.

Guess I was lucky, all my promotions last year from Verizon, total of $950, all came through on the dates Verizon said. AT&T was the trade in nightmare that took months to straighten out for me.

I've been fighting for 2 months now with "Sprint" now part of T-Mobile for an iPhone 12 bill credit (read: reverse contract) promotion with the Apple Store, and the tactic is endless delays, pretending they don't know what's going on, told to wait some more, all for the privilege of being shackled to the most dishonest, consumer-hostile carrier in America: T-Mobile.
