Sorry to burst your bubble but yes, i have used both the Moto Droid & Droid Incredible........and the iPhone 3GS & 4. To compair the phones isnt even possible. They are totally differnt and its all opinion. But the surveys completed clearly show that if VZW got an iPhone that almost 28% would switch phones and or carries immediately that about 3.1+ million "which is how many iPhone 4's Apple sold in the first 3 days of the new phones launch. The iphone just works, doesn't require crap a "phone" wether smart or not shouldn't have, like how droid recomends an anti virus......seriously on a phone......u have that many issues! The droid has a app store full of spam & malicious software stealing over 78% of downloading users private info! Did u research that....before you posted...?..NO ONE wins here but iPhone is a stronger more secure phone with better easier operations and user interface fo me and millions of others!:D

You don't give one source for your facts and are giving personal experience.

Just as I am. I have the Droid X with Froyo Android OS 2.2 with Flash and couldn't be happier with my decision.

If you're going to get on the spam, virus bandwagon then remember that didn't work for Apple on the Desktop and it's not going to work on the Mobile Cell Arena.

Loving Life and really happy to be off of Apple's roller coaster of lies.

Consequently, it is difficult to take his comments at face value, as the companies are almost certainly working more closely together than he is suggesting in his comments.

Why? Everything the Verizon spokespeople has said has turned out to be true. Every rumour that has been circulating around the Internet in the last 3 years about the iPhone coming to Verizon has turned out to be false. My money is on the spokespeople.

It's a phone first as Consumer Reports and cNEt has said.
The iPhone 4 fails at being a stable phone.

I should know better than to feed the trolls, but you're wrong on two counts. The iPhone 4 is an outstanding phone. It gets better reception and drops fewer calls (zero) than any cell phone I've had. And no, I don't hold it so as to cover the antenna, and no, that doesn't make the phone less functional.

But you're also wrong on a more fundamental point - it's not necessarily "first and foremost a phone." I probably spend less than 25% of my total time on my iPhone using it to make calls. My number one use is a music player (iPod/pandora), second is email, phone is probably third, and Internet/apps fourth.

As for the OS debate, I don't blame you for not wanting to have it - if I used android, I wouldn't, either.

I love the phone and don't regret for a second switching to Verizon or putting my iToy to rest.

So you put your iToy to rest and yet still visit a site that highlights mostly good news about the iToy!

Why?

Just hoping an article such as this will arrive, providing posts such as the one you responded to! ;)

You need to work out you iToy envy in some other fruitful manner my friend, get it, fruitful... Apple... :apple:

Now, now. Are you saying you wouldn't envy having the kind of free time it must take to follow forums for users of devices you dislike? ;)

Enough is enough

I have Flash on the Phone that I can turn on and off as I see fit. I can put an app on to hide ads.

I have a tapedeck and a CD player in my 2001 Nissan Xterra! Guess how often I use the tapedeck. Flash is to tapedeck as CD player is to HTML 5. Say goodbye to Flash. Good riddance!

As for a Verizon iPhone, son of a bi*&tch people! How many times now have we gone through the whole "the iPhone is coming to Verizon next year" discussion and not one of them has been right. No more predictions, no more speculation. Move it all to Page 2 because the "iPhone on Verizon" rumors have a proven track record of being BS.

Just saying

Ok mr toy lover.......ur right one a few things a phone is meant to make calls not play games, i can make calls but happy crappy service with at&t got me there, thats why all of us droid loverz want VZW in the iphone grouping so we can have our amazing phones on the nations best largest fasest network....you got me there. Flash on a phone would be nice for a game here and there and pron.....:) other than that id wanna turn it off to save battery. i own the iphones i spoke of before and best friend owns the droids so im not just talking out my ears. With the facts and numbers i stated do a simple GOOGLE "ur favortite and mine, for Android Market Spam & Maliosous Software apps, and all the information and links will be right there, the other stuff alot has been posted by Macrumors the site were on now and then double checked with there sources to confirm the information before id believe ay of it. I was a PC and windows user for years, had problems....slow systems....viruses......JUNK. Moved to a mac just to try it out and now i have show how nice they are to alot of family members and friends who have now also switched. They are secure on a much higher level, require less user info on the OS to operate and area all around nicer looking anf faster than the average PC. When a company designs everything from looks to hardware to the OS you get a nice product and its called a Mac! :D

there is no way jobs would let seidenberg announce the first verizon iphone.

I envision it going this way...

Ivan talks for 30-40 min about how it is building out it's LTE network, adding more coverage, yada yada yada..

Then he says, "Oh, and one more thing.." and Steve Jobs walks out on stage...

And the rest is history.

You don't give one source for your facts and are giving personal experience.

You don't give any facts either. You lost all credibility in your first post by saying you can delete all apps which you can't without rooting.

I have experience with both OS's my previous phone was a Nexus One and before that I had a G1 so sorry to burst your bubble but neither OS is superior. Both Android and iOS have great strengths and weaknesses. They are both really good. So get over it and stop trying to create uncessarsary arguments based on opinionated baseless rubbish.

September 2010 Macrumors Newbie. Hmmm.

Contracts are rewritten all the time. That's essentially what a mortgage refi is.

There is a distinct possibility that the contract between AT&T and Apple has been revised since the original iPhone, including an expiration date that's not years off. We know that the original subscription revenue sharing arrangement was dropped in favor of an outright subsidy when Apple unveiled the iPhone 3G. Changing the exclusivity expiration date could have happened any time in the past three years.

Note that AT&T's exclusivity could have been tied to an SLA (service level agreement) as well. SLAs are quite common in enterprise contracts.

I don't believe it will be rewritten. I don't believe any rumor about Verizon iphones before 2012. And I am a Verizon customer so I would be very happy if it were true.

Clear 4G

Well sense this hole thing will probably be based n a 4G launch announcement, has anyone heard of Clear 4G, the first company to start 4G coverage in the US?? I work for them there Sprints 4G provider......
Clear.com
and
Clearwire.com
Now Clearwire is being fazed out by year end, for Clear which is now WiMax in all markets, Starting january all markets are converting to LTE, "def the better choice" and are expecting speeds of up to 50MBps for downloads. Im curious now at what Verizon's actually speeds will be near, and if they will launch a huge amount of markets like they normally do....everything BIG for the big red!!!!! Id like to see 10MBps or higher for downloading and at least 2-3MBps for uploads! With a 4G 3G hotspot so i can cancel this slow a*s DSL that Verizon currently offers me 3MBps maximum DSL!

I heard that you can't multitask with voice and surf the web at the same time on the Verizon network. That will hurt them when that information is common knowledge.

Is that something that can change at launch or is that permanent?

I was under the impression that it was common knowledge ever since ATT started airing the commercials that made fun of it :D

Update: Seidenberg also noted that Verizon will shift to tiered pricing for cellular data access within the next four-to-six months, following in the footsteps of AT&T's shift made at the time of the iPhone 4 launch earlier this year. One report had pegged Verizon's change to tiered pricing as set to occur as early as this past July, but it has yet to make an appearance.

Of course he has. Free Market is dead.

Truly epic. Story for the ages.

I am not from the US so my question is: Is Verizon the only network in the US that plans to start LTE soon? I wonder why many people always say "LTE=Verizon".

I think demand for a GSM/UMTS/HSDPA/LTE version would be high because many European GSM/UMTS carriers are preparing LTE. For example T-Mobile and Vodafone in Germany are going to start commercial offerings by the end of 2010. What about US GSM carriers? Are they going to upgrade to LTE?

It would be silly to be stuck with HSDPA in Europe because the LTE version would be CDMA/LTE only and pretty useless (limited to LTE areas) here. I still think the best solution would be a true multi standard iPhone (GSM/CDMA/UMTS/HSDPA and LTE).

I've never heard of that expression before!

People use both. Close to the chest / vest. Older people probably use "vest" more often.

I have a tapedeck and a CD player in my 2001 Nissan Xterra! Guess how often I use the tapedeck. Flash is to tapedeck as CD player is to HTML 5. Say goodbye to Flash. Good riddance!

Sure, just as soon as there's an equivalent development environment for HTML5 and as many programmers.

In the meantime, Flash on a smartphone is handy to have. Suddenly you realize how many times you had to leave a website because you got a blue box instead of content.

You don't give any facts either. You lost all credibility in your first post by saying you can delete all apps which you can't without rooting.

Perhaps he was talking about the ability to delete the shortcut on his homescreen(s). That's all that most people want.
