Just as I am. I have the Droid X with Froyo Android OS 2.2 with Flash and couldn't be happier with my decision.

If you're going to get on the spam, virus bandwagon then remember that didn't work for Apple on the Desktop and it's not going to work on the Mobile Cell Arena.

Loving Life and really happy to be off of Apple's roller coaster of lies.

What do you mean didn't work for apple on the desktop?

and you are seriously missing out on apples 260,000+ high quality apps.
unlike androids 50,000+ that are full of spam, virus's, porn, and apps that don't work

I envision it going this way...

Ivan talks for 30-40 min about how it is building out it's LTE network, adding more coverage, yada yada yada..

Then he says, "Oh, and one more thing.." and Steve Jobs walks out on stage...

And the rest is history.

my dream come true

?????

Okay, so could there be a Verizon iphone??

There have been more than 10 rumors on macrumors that all point to a december manufacturing and a january or early 2011 launch for verizon iphone

I am 15 years old, and a huge apple fan boy.

my parents are on Verizon, and thats what I am stuck too.

I have been waiting since forever to get the iphone, will i be able to get one in january?! I really don't want a droid.

ps: and Verizon service is by far the best in my area, at&t can hardly make a call. also Verizon is the only provider that reaches to camp, where I am there all summer long

Yes.

No.

Oh, and you better learn about multiquoting or you will be spanked.

yea... oops, I didn't even realize until i looked at page 6.

will i be able to buy a Chinese cmda iphone in january and jailbreak it, and do some other tampering to make it run on verizon?

Happily running on Verizon's network with my HTC Incredible. Not a bad device at all.
I'm done with AT&T. Done. I've had all 4 iPhones, and AT&T's service just gets worse and worse (at least in the locations I need to be).

Yoy guys make simultaneous data+calls out to be a WAY bigger deal than it really is. Guess how many times I've needed to use the internet on my phone while I'm in a conversation? Zero. How am I supposed to talk and use the internet at the same time anyways? Speakerphones are trash, and bluetooth headsets look incredibly douchey. Not to mention Data+calling only works if you have a 3g connection, and with ATT's pathetic 3g coverage that feature is available a lot less of the time than ATT would have you believe.

That being said, I would love to see Verizon get the iPhone some day because I think it is a great device.

Do you agree that Apple may need to change the user experience just because of this verizon cdma shortcoming? What will the iOS do if the user presses the Home button when talking?

Two things:

1) If the iphone 4 is so bad, then why does Verizon want it? ;)

2) The future is LTE, and the business model will have to change. We will buy a phone directly from Apple, Motorola, Samsung, etc., then you will pick your carrier. That is the future.

+1

More like the past.

This was and still is the model in Europe, and has been that way since the mid 1990s. The USA has been behind the curve on this for at least 15 years.

Pegatron to begin volume production of CDMA iPhone 4 in November

Monica Chen, Taipei; Steve Shen, DIGITIMES [Friday 24 September 2010]

Pegatron Technology is expected to begin volume production of a CDMA-version iPhone 4 in November with total shipments likely to reach 3-4 million units in the first three months, and 10 million by mid-2011, according to industry sources.

With shipments of iPhone 4, and orders from Asustek Computer, Acer, Toshiba and Sony as well as tablet PC orders from HTC, Pegatron is expected to snap up handsome profits in the first half of 2011, the sources noted.

But industry sources have predicted that Pegatron's gross margin and utilization rate for the third quarter of 2010 will fall below its targets.

No iPhone for Verizon for at least 12 more months.

Some of us actually have or still have original iPhones that did not have this capability, we know it actually does suck from acutally using it.

It is not just a matter of being able to talk and surf at the same time, you can miss calls if you are online when a call comes in. It is not a good dynamic, and it is a problem.

If the App Store would have existed when the iPhone came out, it would have been an even bigger deal.

No.

The same thing it did with the first iPhone, and the same thing it does with any other iPhone outside of 3G coverage.

Some of us actually have or still have original iPhones that did not have this capability, we know it actually does suck from acutally using it.

Millions of people have phones without the capability and they never notice. In return, they virtually never have dropped calls, which are far more aggravating.

That's only a problem with GSM phones. CDMA phones prioritize voice calls first, so they always cause data to pause to let you decide whether to answer or not, then continue after the call.

It's okay to argue that voice+data is a handy thing to have. You guys just need to not try to pile on extra reasons that don't really apply. If someone has the need for it, that's reason enough.

For example, a little over a year ago we needed to be able to support voice and use a web app at the same time on a Verizon phone. We ended up using a VoIP client, which allowed us to take calls, talk and browse simultaneously over regular CDMA EVDO data.

What's the point of buying a Verizon Iphone in the beginning of next year when Iphone5/4G/whatever will probably be released next summer? That's like a couple of months to wait. Would Verizon not get that model? In any case I think it's a poor time to release a phone.

That's my guess as well. People just assume that since Apple is making CDMA phones it has to mean Verizon. But China uses CDMA, and that market can absorb All of the CDMA iPhone production.

Actually the two biggest carriers in China are on GSM variants. If Apple really wanted to penetrate the China market, it would have to develop yet another version of the iPhone that will work with China Mobile's TD-SCDMA network.

A friend of my wife has worked at Verizon her whole life, now retired. She said to expect a Verizon iPhone by early next year. She obviously still speaks to people at her old job.

Probably not. I've heard China uses a different version of CDMA than Verizon does, and that they're not compatable.

My brother's sister's cousin's brother's nephew has a friend who is a janitor at a Krispy Kreme who overheard the same thing.
