Umm good for Verizon, but that AT&T and T-Mobile merging with some LTE on top might make VZW shaking in their boots.

Doubtful. There's a damn long way before AT&T&T even exists. Verizon will be humping every day, building a substantial lead while AT&T management gets distracted by issues related to the takeover.

Plus, AT&T has never demonstrated any brilliance or ever competency in running a network, and neither has T-Mob. Putting two sub-par groups together isn't going to get you any synergy - it will be like the old saying, two drunks holding each other up.

Would AT&T&T _compete_ with VzW? Sure. But there won't be any quaking in the boots.

Speeds very from location depending on where VZW has more spectrum depth, so in areas where spectrum depth and bandwith is wide and thick, YES 50+megs is possible! In other areas of the country where spectrum depth and bandwidth is not so thick, you will see 12 -20Mbps. Just depends where you are in the country!

VZW LTE spectrum depth vs ATT spectrum depth
THe better the spectrum depth the higher and faster the speed for LTE in the area!

Bad boy for hotlinking:D

I did my own speed test with a 4G-connected thunderbolt at my local verizon store. The phone had full LTE service.

Download Speed: 7.19Mbps
Upload Speed: between 3 and 5 Mbps*

NOTE: There is a glitch in the system which shows the upload speed upwards of 32Mbps, the actual upload speed is between 3 and 5 Mbps

PS: the mngr at my verizon store hinted that the iPhone 5 will be 4G LTE compatible.
