I had a similar issue last year, I was on the phone maybe 6 hours total before I messaged Rory Sykes and he suggested I just have them cancel the order, re-order and submit a request to "jump the line". When I had my payment issue this year, the representative said I wouldn't need to submit a request because it was highly unlikely it wouldn't get delivered by Friday.
Rory told me he'd been on the phone with Verizon over 100 hours trying to get his iPhone 11 orders delivered on day one, due to undisclosed issues. That kid is crazy! We both received our iPhone day 1.
