Sprint and traveling

According to Verizon the CDMA iPhone is not under a sole agreement (as 'twas w/ Att) to Verizon, and thus could be adopted by Sprint if the stars aligned.

The customer info from Verizon states that their iPhone can be used in Europe on voice and data networks. Suggesting that there is a sim slot (ala the king Droid)

no sim slot means the leaked images where NOT the CDMA version but an updated GSM version that will likely be co-launched alongside the CDMA version.

They will probably use the iPad introduction to have One More Thing: an updated iPhone 4 accross the line.

They removed the white version because the first rev of the iPhone will never see a white version released. Hopefully the updated one will.

There is no way one version of the iPhone will have an antenna defect while the other one will not.

You heard it here first people!

Oh boy. A 7 month old phone that is not 4G and now can't to voice / data together with an uncertain pricing plan. Yeah - that's tempting.

so what about the people buying the iphone 4 from AT&T/Rogers/Fido/Bell/Telus now?!

apple probably woudlnt want Verizon to announce a new antenna design, especially after antenna gate.

Right. They're hoping to draw as little attention to the antenna as possible. I suspect the redesign was very much influenced by the antenna issues, but Apple aren't about to admit that, hence Tim Cook's response about optimising for CDMA.

Carriers want to do away with SIM cards - can't buy unlocked phones and use it on the carrier you want....

Doesn't Apple want that internal Flash SIM?

If you look up the SIM card debate a non sim card phone would actually be bad for carriers since the idea was to give the users the possibility to pick the carrier he wants to use directly on the phone.

Arguably you could say that carriers could use this to avoid people switching, but i dont see apple rolling out a specific phone for every network.

so there has to be a failsafe somewhere.

wouldn't personal hotspot disable your phone functionality? You wouldn't be able to make or receive calls, or if you do, it'll disable the hotspot.. very incovenient..

I really wish they had included 4G. O well I get to wait for the iphone 5 i guess...

So I can't use my BRAND NEW GARMIN APP and be on the phone at the same time....really? I know no voice and data, but im not sure how that works since it may use GPS data and not cellular data. Don't flame me, im asking if there's a difference.

Oh, my iPad [WiFi only] would love to hook up with my iPhone4 and use its 3G connection over WiFi when we're all on the move together. And so would my Mac.

- White iPhone 4 Images Removed: While not strictly related to the Verizon iPhone 4, Apple appears to have taken the opportunity of the Verizon iPhone introduction to essentially scrub its site entirely of images showing the white iPhone 4. Apple had dramatically scaled back its usage of the white iPhone 4 in promotional images following an October announcement that the model had been delayed until spring 2011, but some references had remained until today.

Hey wow, they're right! You can actually see what bumpers look like on a black iPhone now!

classic verizon

they don't make money selling the phone but on the accessories. this is why all the accessories always changed and you couldn't buy a replacement after a year or so

For most people who get an iPhone 4 from Verizon this will be their first iPhone 4, so other retailers may lose out on the sale, but the new customer won't see any difference.

To clarify, GPS apps that have preloaded maps will work fine on the GPS module alone.

GPS apps that dont have maps store locally wont be able to load them, either way theyll navigate via the GPS module.

You'll lose the triangulation capabilities on both cases, wich might make the phone more reliant on gps quality and might take longer to acquire a fix.

im just glad they didnt announce a white iphone. and decided to get rid of it showing anywhere. i real kick it at&ts ass would be to release the white iphone through verizon. :p

Yeah, nobody is buying the 7 month old iPhone, that is not 4G, on AT&T anymore. And nobody is buying smartphones at Verizon because they can't do voice / data together.

So can everyone who bought the iPhone 4 with the broken antenna go to the Apple Store and exchange it to this new iPhone 4 with a fixed antenna? :)

And I remember everyone saying few months back "that there won´t be a antenna fix until summer 2011"! I have this to say to them:

HAHAHHAHAHAHAAHAHAAAAA!!!!!!!!! :p

It does not disable the phone functionality. If you're using the hotspot and a call comes it, it pauses the data session and delivers the call.
