Verizon iPhone 5 Preorder Status Thread

Yes I was assigned a tracking number Monday evening for delivery Friday 9/21 however the tracking number I was provided still does not work on FedEx website. I also don't know why since others are able to track orders and mine just says not found.

As I typed that I checked again and I finally have tracking info, says will be delivered tomorrow by 4:30pm.

I never received any emails either & tracking number shows on verizon order page, but what I found is the tracking number they have there has 1 extra number in the front making it not come up with fed ex. I removed it & bingo, all my tracking information found on fedex.

Maybe the same thing with yours?

Boggles the mind how many local Fedex Facilities the package has to travel to in the same state. "In transit, at facility, in transit, at facility". More recently, Shipment information sent to Fedex... Don't necessarily know what that means at 5am today if it's already been at FedEx but hey.. 24 more hours right?

Same here. Usually "Shipment Info sent..." is the first thing that happens. Very strange whats going on in Memphis. :confused:

it was like this with the ipad3 dont worry.
you'll get your phone!

all the being sent around is them sorting it. Memphis is the main hub, can reach several major cities.

Assuming you're planning to use VZW as your carrier, they're still going to "get their money" regardless where you buy.

I get your frustration though.

Still rocking the "In processing" phase... delivery 21st. My guess is it will be overnight or the tracking is simply not updating on it.
 
Any updates for anyone in D771901? My card hasn't been billed and I'm still "in process"...
 
As someone said earlier, the logistics of UPS and FedEx are mind-boggling.
Modern Marvels or How It Works or a similar show have had some segments on it. One shipped LIVE LOBSTERS from Maine or something to Europe, and another showed the delivery of a cuckoo clock from Austria to the US midwest. They don't even "scan" the packages at the major hubs like Memphis. A camera reads the tracking number. It's insane. And it's scanned something like 100 times when it's in the building. Usually only one of them is reported but as one person pointed out, they are probably storing the iPhones in a truck outside, and so they're probably resorted every day, which means they enter and leave the facility every day and so they're scanned. Package delivery is amazing.

My experience with Amazon has been that an overnight order can be shipped as late as 6 or 7pm LT and delivered to me in or around DC by noonish at work or 7pm at home the next day.
So I wouldn't be surprised to see shipping notices sent out through the afternoon and into the evening.

Our 4S last year was shipped two days before release direct from China (via Anchorage and Memphis) and I got it at about 2pm on release day. If the phones are already in Memphis, it should make it a lot easier.
 
This has been really frustrating for me. I ordered 2 64GBs along with number ports from ATT.

I'm a bit neurotic (as I think a few others here are :)) so I've been following the status daily since pre-order launch. I ordered at 6:30am on that day and got a 9/21 arrival date. It said "order pending" with a shiip date of 9/21 (which I knew to interpret as arrival date) all the way up until yesterday.

Yesterday AM, I checked the status and it said 10/5 as the ship date. I lost my s***. I realize I shouldn't have, its just a phone, but I've been looking forward to it for a while. So I called VZW customer service who said that they would escalate it and get it sent out on time.

Starting around noon, the ship date just disappeared from the website, so I'm hoping it was taken care of, but calling VZW customer service just gets me transferred to internet sales now who give me a canned answer of "tracking # is not available yet, one will be emailed to you when it is." but they also say the order is showing as complete.

I think part of the cause is that Amex flagged the charge as potentially fraudulent at 12:03 am yesterday (2 nights ago). I called them to authorize it at 6:00am yesterday so it should no longer be holding things up, but I'm getting frustrated.

I may get up at 5:30 and go wait outside the apple store if I don't have a tracking number tonight, but I was really hoping to avoid this...Again, I know it's just a phone but I've been looking forward to it and my wife will be out of town this weekend so I'd have some time just to play around with it and get it set up.

My wife and kids and I eat there occasionally. I work and play in Tyler but live in Lindale for the schools. Friendly town though

After my order finally got sent to processing last night, I woke up to shipping confirmations, one for each phone. They have been shipped overnight from West Chester, PA for delivery on 9/21. The emails came around 6:30am.
 
I never received any emails either & tracking number shows on verizon order page, but what I found is the tracking number they have there has 1 extra number in the front making it not come up with fed ex. I removed it & bingo, all my tracking information found on fedex.

Maybe the same thing with yours?

Same on my VZ order - I suspect that these orders have a similar control as the Apple orders to prevent early delivery and this is the "release" order that will let it flow.
 
I don't know what everyone's reference numbers looked like on FedEx but for those who want to see if there shipment made it to the carrier and you don't have a tracking number, my reference number looked like this:

D771001_00016XXXX01
Location_000order01 (adjust the first 3 0s as needed so that's its 9 digits: i.e. 00XXXXXXX01...)

Close to what was suggested in the forum earlier on. But they seem to have added a 01 at the end just to trip us up.

I'm D771001 but I just got processed last night and go my tracking number this AM at 5:10AM. Also shipping from West Chester, PA overnight for delivery 09/21 :D
