Finally got through to someone very knowledgeable by calling the internet sales number listed a few posts ago. After a 20 minute wait, the person I got knew exactly what was going and said the Verizon call center is going absolutely nuts with people calling in because their cards were denied.

She re-ran my card and it went through, and she said as long as I ordered before 9 AM on the 14th, I will get my phones on Friday. Apparently that's the cutoff line. She said they need to have their operations team work on the order status site because it's always bouncing around the ship dates.

Hope everyone else is as lucky and gets a rep as good as the one I got.
 
So my order was placed at 3:07am NYT on Friday, still no charges and no shipment, due date still 9/21... I suspect it might be because I have 2 phones on the order, of different capacities and colors, thus they need to be "aggregated" for one shipment!

In the meantime called credit card (Citi) and pre-authorized large charge, to avoid any "incidents" on the credit card side...

Waiting...

I talked to billing, so this is good! So everyone, if they try to transfer you to billing, say **** no!
 
So within the last few hours my pre order status has changed from processing to your order has been sent for processing and the shipping date/delivery is now blank...I ordered and received my confirmation email that stated a delivery date of 9/21 at 12:02am PST.
 
I spoke to a generic Verizon rep first and she said to try their "Internet department" at 866-338-7390. The guy I got at that number seemed to know what he was talking about. It was a short wait the first time, now I've been on hold 8 minutes this call.

THANK YOU For posting this number. I was in the same boat as the other AmEx fraud alert people. I cleared it up with AmEx and then called into Verizon. Got a few clueless people before you posted this number. Called it and got someone who knew what was up right away.

She took my card info again and charged it while I was on the phone. She said it will ship tomorrow and I will still get it Friday 9/21.

My order ship date on the preorder status page linked in OP had slipped to 10/5 after the fraud alert, but now it is blank. The status still says "We received your order and it is in process. Payment not taken yet." but I can now see the charge pending in my AmEx account.

After calling my bank, I found out that they did receive the $0 authorization charge from Verizon (although it didn't show up in the online statement). I had them leave a note on the account to authorize the actual payment from Verizon since it's gonna be a $950 charge. Now I guess I just have to wait till I finally get the pending charge in the statement. I'm just getting a little impatient because some people who completed orders after I did have already received shipment notifications.

Also, to those of you guys who have been charged, what does it show up as on your statement?
 
Heads up if you used a CHASE credit card for the purchase. They declined my VZW charge even though I warned them it was coming a few days ago. Now I'm on hold with VZW trying to see if they can re-process the card. F*%#!

Mine that was cancelled was Chase. Trying to call them now. Perhaps that whole "envision what you want" thing is right because I have been sure something would go wrong with this damn order.

My Amazon Chase Visa shows the pending transaction. I've also made some other larger ($300-400) charges on the card lately, so maybe they see it as "normal."
 
i feel bad now my sister won't get hers until october but ill get mine friday even though they were both ordered at the same time.
 
I got an email from cc company about potential fraud and gave a number to call. I called the number and it was automated and asked about three charges which one was about the iPhone and they declined that charge. After indicating the charge was legit I checked my status on Verizon which said that payment was not taken yet with a delivery date of 10/05. I called Verizon and explained the situation and she took what I wanted and my cc number and when she said it went through I got an email about 10 seconds later that a large purchase has posted and it was from Verizon. I checked my status again and it says payment not taken yet but the delivery date says not available. Hopefully since they charged my card for the whole amount I will still get it on Friday.
 
AMEX Fraud cause shipping delay?

Called Verizon and mentioned about AMEX flagging it for potential fraud and got it cleared up. Was told "nothing he can do about the shipping date". Pretty much was told I was bumped to the end of the line....

I don't understand! My AMEX flagged it as well for fraud. I immediately called AMEX about it and cleared the fraud flag. I then called Internet Orders at Verizon and they initially said that everything looked good and then he came back and said, well actually it does look like it was denied. He took my card number over the phone and processed it. He said it came back approved and my Verizon order status showed "Paid, Awaiting Shipment." He said that it looked good for my order to ship on Thursday and receive on Friday but it sounded like he was just assuming based on the time I ordered (12:15am). Checking the pre-order page my expected Shipping date is now blank. It had been showing 9/21/12 since I ordered on Friday.

If the fraud alert caused my ship date to slip by 2 weeks I will be pissed.
 
This is absurd. My AMEX has had hundreds of thousands of dollars charges over the last couple years. I've NEVER had a fraud alert before. I've gone from 9/21 to 10/5. Been on phone with Verizon and Amex for over an hour!!!

Might be my issue too. I have two 16GBs (one white, one black) and one black 64GB in my order, which could be why mine is delayed so far.

I'm with you on that. 3:11 AM for me and zero movement on my order.

Great post...perhaps this is why they are going blank...they are trying to stop the system from producing such late delivery dates which in turn makes everyone freak out and call to find out what's going on!

Essentially the same situation, but one of my cards didn't get run properly (wrong zip code, moved and never updated with the bank) so one card was charged, and then reversed, since the 2nd card couldn't be run. Slipped to Oct. 5th. Called and gave new card info and she re-ran, and now the ship date is blank, but she said expect it the 21st. Hoping thats the case! Ordered at 3:10 AM EST on Friday.

Yep I'm in the same boat. 3 iPhones, two that are different color and one that is larger capacity. Lol.

No authorizations or change in status 3:26am Eastern - confirmation received.
 
I don't know how many people were like me, but I didn't place my order until 11am on Friday. I did it over the phone because I have a special data rate that I wanted to try and keep (they noted my account...whew!).

Still see, "We received your order and it is in process."

OK so to EVERYONE who had a ship date of 9/21 that got bumped to 10/05.

I called Verizon and got transferred to Internet sales..... you NEED to talk to internet sales and NOBODY else. they are the only ones who can fully see your order. I guess I had a billing issue.(Funds were in the account but something came back in error so they moved on...) After talking to the lady she got it worked out and confirmed it will show up on friday for me!

DO NOT TALK TO ANYONE BUT INTERNET SALES. if they try and ask if they can help, make sure they transfer you. The wait will take a little bit but they will be able to help.... if your relatively nice to them, they will help you.
