WTF VERIZON!!!!!!

Sales Tax in Los Angeles County 9.75% which should be close to $20.00

Where did they get $73.12 in TAX

I think you actually have to pay tax on the unsubsidized price...If I did my math right , it looks like that is tax on $750.

Question folks... So I pre-ordered an iPhone under my mother in laws account (since she had the upgrade). I was forced to select the data plan, but also selected no texting plan, etc. If she already has a texting plan under the number I upgraded from, do those features disappear any time soon or once the iPhone has been activated?

Probably should take this to the Verizon forum, but us folks on MacRumors appear to get back quicker. Just wondering if anyone else ran into this.

Yes, I asked this same question 5 posts above.

My order is pending due to a credit review. The account is in the wife's name and my name and credit card is on the order. I am an authorized user on this account. 10 years with Verizon and they need to check my credit to add a line and purchase a $300 phone? WTF Verizon?!?!? It'll be tomorrow before my credit is authorized so I am hope the phones I ordered are indeed held in the system for me. No customer service during the biggest device launch in Verizon history. Another solid decision.

I have a pending ordering confirmation number. Don't see ACE number any where. Looks like a woke up at 3 am for nothing.

I had to cancel my original order and reorder this morning after talking to Verizon Financial Services. I used my SS# and driver license # when ordering when I should have used my wife's info.

Most iPhone users are data hogs because the iPhone is just that good at using data. Verizon has to throttle things to keep up with the impending datapocalypse when they go live with the iPhone.

All cell companies suck, Verizon is just going to suck "in more places®".

LOL!! :D Hate to say "I told you so!!". Just wait till after Feb 10th when people actually get these phones in their hand. Then the real fun starts. I suspect call quality will be better on Verizon given the Verizon iPhone has none of the alleged antenna issues. But data will be a problem. Macrumors says tests show Verizon is over 40% slower in data downloads compared to at&t in San Fransisco. Once they have a few hundred thousand iPhone users in a market then the real problems start to surface.

80 dollars +fees per month for the most basic iphone plan. This is just ridiculous =O This doesn't just apply to Verizon or the iPhone, but to most cellphone plans in the US.

The texting plans are ridiculous haha

250...500.... UNLIMITED!

At least ATT gives you a realistic tiered plan.

It's $750 to get a 32GB without a two year contract. Is that even more than what AT&T charges?

AT&T also starts at a higher price. $10 a month for texting is the minimum now on AT&T.

Android users use more data than iPhone users.

Sorry...

Um... who said iPhone users use more data than Android users? Thanks for your pointless link.

The point is that iPhone users are data hogs and you've got a lot of them headed to Verizon to add to their network, hence the impending datapocalypse that they're planning for. Hope that clears things up. Can you hear me now?®

In a few months I guess we'll see if you're right. In the mean time, perhaps this can lessen the burden on AT&T's beleaguered network.

I'm due for a new in two upgrade but the iPhone is not showing up there yet. I can order it via Verizon an existing customer but only get a $30 discount. :( no $ now so I'll have to wait.

Hopefully it will. I personally don't have any problems with AT&T but hopefully it will help other users.

You are the one who implied that iPhone users are data hogs and would therefore be throttled by VZW. I simply informed you that Android users use more data than iPhone users, meaning they would be throttled before iPhone users would be. I'm not saying there won't be some iPhone users who run the risk of falling into that 5%, but the majority of the 5% will be Androids.

But let's not have facts clouding the discussion...

Correct, Android users would suffer also but isn't that what would be needed for the betterment of the whole network? Who said Android users wouldn't suffer. The point is that Verizon has to do it to keep from the bad press that could occur when their overall data usage goes through the roof, because of the new smartphone customers, and they haven't planned for it.

But let's try not to put words in the mouth of the other members...

My order number is 219 and when i checked my order status they are saying that it shipped. My credit card was also just charged. Hopefully it's true.

First, the clarification of data users was to make sure the discussion was based on real facts, not some exclamation of "iPhones are data hogs".

Second, I agree, but VZW seems to be better prepared both network capacity wise as well as network management wise for smartphones. This is to include the large number of iPhones I'm sure they hope to sell as well as the massive amount of Androids they already have and will continue to sell. Their reputation for reliability IS their brand and would take a major hit if they were to allow themselves to suffer the network issues of AT&T.

So let's just step back and bask in the glory of all that is beautiful and wonderful

that's correct..... that's something that has pissed me off since i've had a cell phone... that this pathetic state charges on the full price! (i buy ANYTHING ELSE on sale and i only pay on the price i pay!)

and and for the record..... the one time i got my cell phone (not iphone) at walmart.... i only paid tax on the price i paid for the phone.... not the unsubsidized price!.... just sayin'.....

Insurance options, alternatives?

I'm looking at other insurance costs for my new iPhone, considering I don't think $10 a month is all that fair. I saw this one :
http://www.squaretrade.com/pages/iphone-landing24

$99 for 2 years, covers drops and things. Has anyone else heard of this, is it good? Or are there better options? I'm careful with my things, but it's nice to have that safety net.:D

holy cow! That'd be great! Mine was 1448, but I don't think it's that far down the line.

It starts

Order your phone today...

In about 1-2 months the white iPhone will be out, let the complaining continue

5-6 months the iPhone 5 is out, continue the complaining.

"That is inaccurate. CNET just posted a video on their site that compares phones side by side and the Verizon iPhone squashed the AT&T version almost every time.

Really there doing a test with one carrier that the phone isn't even released on and with a carrier that probably has close to a million iphone users in that city... That sounds very accurate!!!

How does the number of iPhones have any bearing on the performance of the network?

If there are roughly the same number of users in the area, the test is more than accurate. Most people fail to realize the biggest impact on web browsing speed is LATENCY. Lower latency tends to deliver faster results.
