I'm so glad that the Verizon iPhone is finally out and we're past that and the incessant rumors.

We just need things to move forward so that we can see what we want from the iPhone, which, entails a new model I suppose.

the lines are at fedex customer center

what the media doesn't understand is the line is no longer at the stores. we got smart over the past 4 years waiting in line at apple and att. we all now have it delivered. the problem is, the delivery must be signed for and are not left at the door unless you have pre-signed agreement for fedex to leave the package at your door.

the new iphone lines are at the fedex customer centers. there were maybe 30+ people in line waiting to pick up their iphone 4 last summer around 5pm, which is not fun by no means, and i was one of them. fedex had to physically get the phone each time instead of just having them ready like at the apple store and the fedex pick up process is about 10 minutes each. i recall there being a dedicated iphone line too to help the process, which was nice, and i thought ordering online would have solved the problem. nope!

So what time can I pick my reserved phone up from Apple?? The email said starts at 12 p.m. but here it says they are already opening and serving people? I would rather not wait another 5 hours for nothing

I would call the store first but I bet they wouldnt have a problem if you just came over

Congrats on the new phone :)

The reason for the smaller lines is simple. These are people who are Verizon loyalists over Apple loyalists, otherwise they would have bought an iPhone with AT&T.

Verizon loyalists just aren't as enthusiastic as Apple folk.

Thus, they're the ones who see the logic of ordering online in minutes rather than waiting in line for hours.

I'm glad that smart lady in the previous article waiting in line for 15hours.

It can't compare to ATT's iPhone...

ATT's iPhone has a SIM card, meaning it can be unlocked and used with many other service providers. Also, as far as service, you can't talk and surf simultaneously. That really sucks. Specially when it has been possible for 4 years already.
Buying a new iPhone today means you won't be able to upgrade until a year from today. So what will happen in June when ATT gets the iPhone 5 or 4G? Verizon iPhone owners will be pissed off...

One of the reasons why I am staying with AT&T is that I can upgrade within 12 months...I can also sell my iPhone on eBay to anyone and still make money on it lol
Anyone knows for sure if Apple is coming out with an iPhone in June?

I think we're seeing a few things at work here.

1) Most of the people who refused to leave Verizon's network for the iPhone rushed to pre-order last week. There isn't a massive untapped audience for the iPhone. If people wanted it bad enough, they would have gone to AT&T already. This phone is for those who couldn't bring themselves to sacrifice service for a device.

2) The AT&T - Verizon iPhone war is just getting started and this first round isn't a fair fight. Customers' contracts aren't up right now and many don't see it worth it to change to a carrier mid-cycle for a phone they already have. Over time people will now have the choice of choosing the network they see best fit. AT&T had a huge head start and that wasn't going to change over night.

What about the 'enforcement' rules Verizon placed on their existing customers - they nixed the early upgraders and that is surely a huge audience of folks currently under contract whereas AT&T offered early upgrade incentives when they started.

I've been upgrading yearly, at no extra cost, at launch day since iPhone 1. All you need to do is extend your contract by 2 years. :)

Why would there be long lines? Anybody who really wanted one would have gotten up early and preordered.

I'm surprised there was a line at all anywhere!

My goodness... the iPhone's been out a long time. Verizon customers who wanted one really bad had first grabs a week ago and you can go to Best Buy, Wally World, Apple stores, Verizon stores to get a V iPhone.

Plus, with it freezing out... I think I could wait a few days or hours to get one rather than freeze. It will be interesting to hear if the stock sells out or not? But I think they really stocked up. I know the local Verizon store has a storage container moved in a week ago... I'm guessing iPhones inside for the local launch.

LOL on the justification - If iPhone isn't generating lines, it's because of the damn weather!

What happen to all the "As soon as Verizon gets the iPhone I'm switching"?
If you need me, I'll be on a phone call while I browse the web. :D

obviously there were less than many made it out to be.

ATT4LYFE!

And anyone with half a brain will hold off until the iPhone 5.

New every 2 fallout?

I think some people, like me, are waiting to use their last new every 2 credit to get the iPhone. As mine doesn't come due until August, why would I spend extra money on a Phone likely to be outdated in a few months, when I can get the new one 2 months or so after the release with a discounted price?

Not an issue for most people, including me
.

Surely most people know what's coming. If they don't,too bad.Not sure why everyone is so worried about a few idiots being pissed. The same thing was said about iPad 2 coming after Christmas. And I'd be willing to bet a few bucks that both carriers will get iPhone 5 in June, and will be on the same schedule thereafter.

Anyway I'm happy with ATT and staying anyway.

I think that alot of people ordered the phone.. Its just not as noticeable.. Think about it.. They spread this release out so that people wont have to wait in long lines.. It was spread out over not just Apple, Verizon.. But also WIDELY available at Best Buy and Walmart.. Not to mention all the people that preordered it..

Guess there are not as many stupid people as Apple thought. Why anyone would buy a item like the iPhone that is 4 months from replacement is beyond me.
