That's kinda slimy man. Millions of people trying to get a product and none of the overall historic and much longer failures that AT&T's systems experienced and you want to send a letter to get a free case? Come on. Yeah the system went down, but who in their right mind doesn't expect that to happen when a product has been waited for for 4 years and it finally happens.

Although I tried to order from V for like 30 minutes. I will be sending a letter, on my letterhead, voicing my dissatisfaction and inquire as to how they intend to make it up to me. (Maybe I can get a free case out of it, but I will not be holding my breath.)

The reality is, if people were able to successfully order at 2:45a.m., 3:00a.m., 5:00a.m., 9a.m., and even 12:00p.m., I don't think you're going to have an argument. What's important is that you had an alternative place to order from (Apple) and you will be receiving your phone soon-it may not be this weekend, but that doesn't mean Verizon needs to receive a complaint about it. I think the process went rather smoothly for the most part-there may have been a few hiccups, but no huge launch goes perfectly, that is to be expected.
 
Has anyone who is a business customer gotten shipping notification yet? Or any changes in the order status?

Now I've been thru a lot of crap thanks to my cc idiotically declining my order without even confirming with me first (acct is fine, their fraud dept just jumped the gun).
Verizon was kind enough to put the order back in for me, but this is what is now showing and they have no idea why. They will get back to me once they find out the problem. Of course this also might mean that I won't get mine til after the 10th. 1st rep said I'd get it on Monday, the 2nd rep said it'll ship on the 10th. Ugh.

System didn't go down. I was in the ordering process. If it had just been congestion then I would understand. Not to mention, they launched when CS was closed so there was no way to get technical support.
Also, as long as I get my phone relatively close to the time people who ordered through Verizon do, then I have no beef. However, if apple holds till the 10th and Verizon customers start getting theirs today or monday I will be livid. From everything I could see there was no intention to treat customers differently if they ordered through the apple web page vs. the verizon web page. Just my 2 cents. Besides, you never know until you ask. What is so lame about asking????
 
still no shipping email...im hoping that those who ordered the earliest arent getting them because they processed them so fast they are gunna be delivered today...haha i know i sound stupid but i really hope im right

Nope , I went rounds with FEDEX on the phone since I will NEVER be home during their delivery times. I even have it setup for all FEDEX packages to be left on my porch swing ...

They stated that ALL shipments from Verizon are REQUIRED to be delivered to the address 1st and must be signed for! They cannot hold it at the center for you to pick up and you cannot pick it up unless a delivery attempt to your address has been made.

bottom line

You can't go pick it up even if they have it and wave it in your face laughing until a delivery attempt has been made ... you are SOL
 
Wife gets hers before me

I ordered mine before my wife did, and she already has her FedEx confirmation email. :mad:

She does have to save voicemail from her old phone, which is going to take some time. Does it matter if I activate her ordered phone under my number? Are the individual phones already tied to a particular account through the upgrade?

actually, you need to call Verizon and have them contact Fedex to override this. i'm just waiting for the request to go through and then im driving to go pick mine up from west chester, pa
 
I ordered 7 phones for friends and family on 4 accounts starting with mine at 2:52 AM on 2/3. Guess who is the only one without a tracking number ... grr. Verizon's online tracking is down. Automated said it shipped, and when I hit two to track it, it said I did not have an open order! And of course I got the csr line about nothing shipping until the 10th. I am just hoping Verizon fixes the tracking on their website.

It will be hilarious if I get this iPhone before you again. The race to post iPhone unboxing photos on Facebook begins....:p

The fact that you feel the need to ask in the first place. Why not just be pleased that you're getting one, and you know you're getting one, and that it's just a phone, that happens to be the best phone, and it finally came to Verizon and you're privileged enough to afford it.

Buy a 4 dollar case from handhelditems.com that will be as good as any 30-40 dollar case you'll get in a store or for "free" by complaining.
 
Just thought I'd give an update. I was order #73 and my FedEx tracking number wasn't in the system until early this morning. Left Memphis at 6:00am and delivered to Chicago by 2/7. Not exactly overnight shipping. Still a few days early though :)

What was I supposed to do, wait until later in the day and risk them getting sold out? I had no idea if they would sell out at 3:15 or 4:00 or 10:00. I had to go by the info I had at the time which was 1) Lots of demand; 2) Verizon website is not allowing me to input a billing address; 3) Apple website is working.

People complain about a lot less. I woke up at 2:45 for this, then could not go back to sleep because I was so frustrated with the thing.

I assume no one bothered to test the order process with Safari or something. Who knows what went wrong.
 
Same here, still no tracking email. But all signs are that order went through successfully at 2:59 AM EST. Location code D771101.

yeah it says mine has shipped i just dont have the email. i placed my order at 2:57 and got my conformation email at 3:20 order number 1581 so if people that ordered like during the day yesterday get theirs before mine ill be pissed.
 
Just got off the phone with UPS..

They said my phone should be here by 1030...it is now 10am..

Here is to hoping..
