Very wise words. After all, where's the CDMA ipad (which has no contract stopping them).

And where's the tech to support a CDMA or CDMA/LTE iphone. Sure there's lots of rumors of a tri band chip or even putting in two sim cards but it's just rumors. Nothing has really turned up to support these notions. Heck there hasn't been any talk about how difficult it would be to have an iphone that supports ATT and T-Mobile. Or whether Apple is talking exclusive with ATT for GSM (via only supporting said company) and exclusive with Verizon for CDMA, or simply unlocking the whole dang thing and letting it be anything goes.

Who says there is no contract for the ipad?

Who says there is no contract for the ipad?

Steve Jobs, during the announcement.

The only reason why the US only has 3g with ATT is because they are the only company that supports the microsim and the appropriate bandwidth. So it's exclusive by dumb luck. But that could change at any time and ATT can't do anything to stop it.

Heck it isn't their product so they can't offer subsidies etc without Apple's permission. Which Apple probably isn't giving so there's no contract, no ETF to block users from jumping over if someone else does step up. Thus we have full priced 3g ipads selling at ATT as of this week.

I actually wish all the regulations and such would change so t-mobile can play in the same space. Have Apple buy out the last year of their contract and just unlock the iphone as well. But if wishes were that easy, I'd be a zillionaire with a massive castle and a herd of unicorns. And I'd be immortal (or at least age really slow), etc

*WHOOSH*
The main thrust of my post was about the advertisement. Are you seriously that clueless? You basically confirmed everything I said but you insist on spinning it in a pro-Verizon slant. V-Cast store is coming to the android phones on Verizon. They might keep the google android store but it will be relegated to another screen by default. Android is "OPEN" for carriers to customize and screw up. Most "NEW" android phones cannot be "ROOTED" when sold through Verizon.

The openness of android has nothing to do with the end user unless if you "ROOT" the phone.

I laugh at you Americans who are stuck with what we had a few years ago when Bell and Telus were still on CDMA exclusively and the only carriers for the iPhone were Fido (owned by Rogers) and Rogers. What is really sad though is that so many of you don't realize how bad you have it. Your wireless internet is slower and you have no direct competition.

Excellent post!

You are so right. It's nice to hear from someone who is knowledgeable.

Someone other than a clueless fanboy, that gets all his/her info from Apples Dictatorial Hype Machine.

Thanks for an honest, and accurate post.

Cheers... :)
