If this is true Great but i prefer to trust but verify information after all since the whole inception of the iPhone. There have been rumors of Verizon carrying it year after year.

An iPhone that can actually be used as a phone - would you guys like that?

What choo talkin' bout Willis?

I use the iPhone as a phone everyday without any problems. I can't remember the last time I've had w dropped call. Or had bad reception besides my place cuz I live right into a steep hill in a 100% concrete building. For that I have the macrocell.

It works...I dunno about you. Go flee to verizon when it finally becomes available. Take that load off AT&T network

Cut the guy some slack...

If it's true then it's accurate, if not, oh well. No harm to anyone. He's not being a dick about the info, he's simply making a statement in a pretty humble way admitting that it isn't done until it's done. The argument that the MO is to curb the Android growth is logical. We'll know in the next few months....

Well if the metal antenna around the side is a problem... how is a metal antenna on the back going to be any better? You usually cover the back of the phone with your hand anyway.

If you read the article, it's predicting a metal back and an internal antenna. Not the metal back as the antenna.

I wold be pissed if this were true. Not because verizon getting the iPhone, I couldn't care less about that, but the phone part of the iPhone has sucked for years, and it's not the network I've had AT&T for years and never had a problem with them and my nokia phone is great, but why does verizon get a "fixed" iPhone that actually works like a phone is supposed to but we don't?

how reliable is digitimes?

how many threads must we have about a verizon iphone?

I can't wait for the iPhone to go to Verizon! I will stay with AT&T. What people don't realize is when all these people that always bitch about AT&T jump ship and go over to Verizon they are going to see the same issues. How well do you think a network is going to handle your calls when all of a sudden you gain millions of customers in a matter of days. I have a work phone that is on Verizon and I always get dropped calls so I could only imagine how bad it will get. Never had a dropped call with my iPhone and I live in a rural area!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A306 Safari/6531.22.7)

I'll believe it, when I see it for myself in my local Verizon store. Until then, it's just talk....

Schweitzer doesn't even HAVE an iPhone 4. He's just trolling and sounds like a broken record.

Speaking as "the guy" who wrote Jobs about the antenna issue and got the infamous response I'll say flat out that I don't drop any more calls than I did when I had the 3GS. I have my iPhone 4 in a case (like I did the 3GS) and couldn't be happier.

Because, if your going after Android you do it with Verizon. Then hope millions switch, reducing the load on at&t thereby improving at&t service. This then gives the impression of the GSM version being a better "phone" than it is.:apple:

This is why left Verizon and jumped to AT&T to buy the iPhone.

People get their hopes up that it will come to Verizon but it never happens. Not saying that it won't but we go through this vicious cycle every other month regarding Verizon rumors. You all should stop doing this to yourselves.

DigiTimes is a professional magazine and fairly well regarded.

Some other Far Eastern magazines are also known to give good leaks, so we'll know more as the time approaches.

As for the Cingular-Apple exclusivity contract, we don't know when it started. We do know their major deal was signed in summer 2006.

Personally I'm leaning towards the "it's just a CDMA iPad version" in January, with a Verizon iPhone in summer 2011.

VZW's current Droid emphasis helps put more pressure on Apple to make a good deal.

I cannot see that resigned phone for verizon just because that would be admitting the product could have been made better while still producing a product with a problem.

We will see. If it happens it might flood the market with cheap(er) used iphones.

I hope and pray that it finally comes to verizon for two specific reasons:

1: It will lighten the load on At&t towers and in-turn make our service better

2: It should spark some pricing competition and maybe we will finally be able to be on some kind of $99 unlimited plan including data and vv. Im sick of seing sprint adds for the evo and a $69 a month plan including data.

Not sure we can even listen to trusted sources because NJ.com and BBC both posted a weeks ago, saying verizon getting the iphone was confirmed.

also seemed very sketchy because in a PR statement from verizon prior to their rebranding "Rule The Air" - they said they were focusing strictly on android devices.

Either way, it makes no sense to bicker because there is no solid info yet.

didnt Verizon just start a campaign fully dedicated to the Droid for a year??

and yet they are jumping onto the iPhone bandwagon
I dont see the iPhone with Verzion for another 1-2 years

Android will decimate iPhone market share by then. Apple needs to do this to survive and turn the tide on Android. It's absolutely going to happen, I'm surprised it's not happening this year to be honest with you. With the introduction of a new iPad next year as well, I wouldn't be surprised to see a CDMA iPad for Verizon as well.

This is all adding up to good news! iPhone and iPad need more carrier choices.

Apple is making its money selling phones. They're competing against HTC, Motorola, and Samsung when it comes to Android phones. Take any one of those head to head and Apple only has to worry about taking care of their own business. No desperation moves are required; though, if they moved to Verizon I'd ET my contract with AT&T in a nanosecond.

I agree. With so many times the last coule of years "confirmed" rumors from supposedly legitimate, respected sources have come and gone with nothing really happening, I just can't beleive it, even though there is a pretty interesting string of facts to put together that seems like it could be likely.

Also, I will freely admit that Apple just might be this arrogant, but if they did do this, it will damage forever the opinions of many of what were their most hardcore defenders. If they thought the outcry was bad when they dropped the price of the original phone was bad they have not seen anything yet. If they were to release a "fixed" phone so soon after this launch and have it only be on Verizon, just after everyone has committed would cause a revolt in the Apple Stores and the tech press would kill them.

VZW Iphone

I hope the iphone does go to another provider besides att. I however think it is kinda crazy to think if it comes to VZW that the network will be over worked somehow causing the service to go to crap. Most likely when and if the iphone comes to the big red the vast majority of the people with droid platform phones will jump ship and go with the iphone and only a tiny majority of att customers will pay ETF and leave. There was an article a few weeks back that stated that the droid devises use 2-3 times more data than the iphones and if that is in fact true it will be a lot of strain off of the network.

Um...companies do this all the time when they release a new version of something...wouldn't be anything different. There has to be 'upgrades' anyways to make it CDMA compatible. They would be even more ignorant to not fix the antenna issue since they have to put differnet/new componets in it regardless.

Oh, and my contract with Verizon will be up in December and if the iPhone is coming, then Blackberry is going to lose a customer.

You'll have people who are currently on smaller carriers switching too. A lo of people want the iPhone but want nothing to do with AT&T.

That said, I don't think there will be a Verizon iPhone in January - especially a redesigned one.
