Around and around we go, with this never ending loop of rumours about a CDMA capable Verizon iPhone, especially in January.

Apple has their continuous loop, every summer without fail they upgrade the iPhone, I don't see any logical sense in releasing a verizon one, less than 5 months before its due for yet another new iPhone.

It's truly going to be funny if this once again turns out to be pure rubbish, which will yet again put us in the continual, never ending spiral of posts about a verizon iPhone.

Just let it end already

My bets are on a single iPhone 5 handset in January that will be available on both GSM and CDMA networks with a combined chipset. This would be consistent with Apple's product philosophy, and the same chipsets will also appear in next year's iPad 2. I believe Apple is eager to leave the iPhone 4 PR disaster behind and get on with a new model. The stars seem to be aligning with Apple's desire to move past the iPhone 4 "issues", expand the handset to another US carrier (Verizon) if for nothing more than market share reasons, and upcoming availability of hybrid GSM/CDMA chipsets from Qualcom.

The next six months will be interesting.

Apple wont announce a new Iphone until I suspect WWDC 2011. I would be very shocked if they announced before then. At which point they would announce next years Iphone on Verizon as well. Apple wont break the contract, as the penalties themselves are so severe Apple wouldnt want to pay it. 10 1/2 months is the remaining amount of time on the contract until Apple is free to do as it wishes...

This delusion that a new Iphone would be announced in January on Verizon is nothing more then assumption and speculation. Apple wont break any contracts.

Wow!!

WOW!! I never realized that we had someone here that is so important to Apple and ATT, that they are allowed to read it's contracts and make public comments about them.

Of course you know NOTHING about the contract just as the rest of us do not.

I'd point out that you seem to suffer from a lack of legal imagination.

How many times has the contract been restructured?
Are there metrics in the contract that ATT has not met?
Does that offer the grounds for a counter suite IF ATT decided to sue?

See it's not as simple as there is a contract.

ATT has made a lot of public comments that point to their understanding that iPhone's are going to be available from others in the US and that they do not see that as a problem. So to assume that there can be no phone anywhere else is just short sided.

I never said it wouldnt be released...I just stated it wouldnt be released in January as everyone assumes.

As far as my credibility, I guess we will just have to wait till January for you to believe me. I do hope you remember this thread.

Just want to point out that Gruber is implying a January release for a Verizon iPhone is on-point with everything he knows.

a metal back? highly unlikely. i dont think theyd change the form that much...perhaps a different antenna design though.
