Very happy with Verizon service right now (and since I switched from AT&T about two years ago), but pricing is killing me.

We've been a three line account since we dumped AT&T. I added iPad to acct. few months ago, that was easy enough. But we just added an iPhone 5c for when our kids are out of the house. It'll get virtually no use, and tap >3-5% of our data plan, yet the $40/month smartphone fee which I get nothing (but access) for. Terrible.

Then, we added another for my brother's kid, which will get more use, so another $40/month. So Verizon is up $80/month on me now, I get no additional data for it, and I'm starting to feel priced out.

Yea, they do discount the $40 down to $15 if you use the edge program, but then you've got a $25 device payment, so....lol. But at least the upgrade terms are more flexible now.

I just left Verizon for T-Mobile once I saw that T-Mobile was blowing away Verizon data speeds in my area. So not only is T-Mobile faster I'm saving money and get more data on my hardware. Thats -4 devices for Verizon. These companies think they can't be hurt well think again Verizon.

Wow all this anger toward a company. I've been with them for 15 years and love the customer service, coverage and speed. I might pay a little more than an equivalent plan on AT&T but for me it works out fine.

I hope the dividend isn't affected by this.

I've been with VZ for ~15 years. I get great customer service & the coverage is good, though the 3G speed is awful. Then again, it could be by ancient 4s is slow & way outdated. The 6 can't come out soon enough. ;)

Want extra 1GB for 1 year free? if you are on share everything.
if you have for example : 6GB it will give you 7.[12mo]

Glad its worked out for you. That extra hundred bucks in my pocket every month is working out great for me and I can still make phone calls just like Verizon (actually the call quality on T-Mobile blows away Verizon). if you ask me you are the kind of customer Verizon likes, no matter what you are convinced that its better some how. My Verizon speeds in my area were around 6mb down and 56k up. Sorry I don't have a screen capture of those speeds it was such and embarrassment.

Verizon lost 95,000 phone customers in the first 3 months of 2014

I've always found Verizon services over priced. I dumped them for my tablet cellular service and Fios TV/internet.

When I wanted just internet there best offer was 69 dollars a month for 20up/20down. When I asked if they had better deals the guy told me "This isn't AOL". Went with Comcast/Xfinity for 25 a month 10up/20down.

IMO their services are no longer that much better then the competition for the premiums they charge.

The rep explained to me with edge I could upgrade after 30 days without any fee. He never mentioned anything about needing half the device paid off before upgrading. And I asked him multiple times if he explained it right to me and he said he did. If it was explained right to me I would have never signed up for it.

That information is pretty public, and was on the paperwork they gave you and you signed. FWIW, my rep did say you need to pay 50% of the phone before upgrading.

I'm not defending the omission but don't you think its kind of silly to be able to upgrade to a new phone once a month only paying 25 something bucks a month? Edge is basically a lease program, an interest free loan if you will. You need to trade the phone in and have paid off 50% of the value of the phone.

My friend's dad who worked for Verizon for 30 years just retired and chose AT&T for his iDevices. He could have had the VZW plan at a 60% discount and still chose AT&T. Says VZW has the worse overall service in the industry.

I don't know about that. I have less call drops with VZW then ATT. I guess it all depends on coverage. I'm happy with VZW and the cost is about the same as ATT so for me it all depends on what each carrier provides in service and coverage and for me VZW wins out.

Why should I need to read the paperwork if I'm being explained how edge works correctly. Especially asking him multiple times. I didn't look up Verizon edge before going into the store because I didn't plan on doing edge. I took the sales rep word that he explained it right. And yeah I found it odd how he explained edge, that's why I asked him multiple times. Oh well there's nothing I can do besides getting out of the edge program.

Why should I need to read the paperwork if I'm being explained how edge works correctly. .

Because being an informed consumer avoids confusion, headaches and wasting money. If you read about the program either in the store or before arriving you'd be an educated consumer and you would be able to make a fully informed decision on whether Edge was a good product that fits your needs and what it would require of you, if you decided to upgrade the phone after 30 days.

I think VZW (and AT&T's) biggest total **** up is that they just don't let you get decent individual plans. I'm one dude. Don't force me into a "family share" or "MORE everything" plan. I don't need unlimited minutes, either. Give me 300 minutes and 10GB data and I'll pay $80/mo for it and bring my own device (no subsidy). That's less than what TMo offers for the same price, so I don't think it's unfair.

I agree totally. Am in same boat + don't NEED/WANT large data plan. Been with Verizon (BAM) since inception.

Yes. The extra 1200 a year is peace of mind knowing virtually anywhere I go I will have coverage. It's money worth spending.

Verizon had a good quarter financially, as such there must be others who like the same peace of mind.

A load of bs or a disgruntled employee. Sorry.

My employer pays for my Verizon acct however I'm debating paying my own AT&T account. I think it just depends on the quality of service in your area and what's important too you.

I'm covered by Verizon LTE yet it's slower then AT&T HSPA+. I can't do talk and data. There fallback to CDMA 3G is horribly slow.

So I don't think it's out of the question that someone would choose to pay more for a better service if certain things are important to you.

Since you've been with Verizon for 15 years you would not know if the coverage was better or worse you are only speculating that it would be based on a commercial from Verizon that uses and old T-Mobile map.

I'm saying I get coverage where I need it. Whether is the middle of NYC, in the desert, at the Grand Canyon or wherever I am. Im not comparing to any other carrier.

I gotcha and I would have to agree that Verizon has excellent coverage to say anything else would truly be nonsense.

I hear you. Switch to Walmart Family Mobile. As a single person, it is the BEST value: $40 for unlimited talk, text, data. However, you won't be able to bring your phone since they use T-Mobile's service, which is GSM and not CDMA. AS a single person, I couldn't be happier.

I'm happy with VZW's coverage and in fact that's why I moved over to VZW from ATT in the first place. Where I go frequently ATT didn't even have 3G but VZW was full on LTE. I'm speaking about the White Mountains area of New Hampshire.

ATT may have built out their network there and its a different story but overall I'm happy with VZW so I don't see any reason to change.

The ONLY reason people use Verizon is its coverage. That's it. If VZW's network wasn't gigantic they'd have collapsed because literally everything about the company sucks. They use CDMA, cost too much, won't get Nexus devices, take FOREVER for updates (if you use Android devices), pack their phones with bloatware, and really don't give a crap about customers.

I switched to TMo yesterday despite the worse coverage. I'm fine with it. $100/mo for unlimited everything and I'm getting the i6 the day it comes out.

That's only good news for us VZW customers, as they'll be looking to keep us, i.e., lowering the price.

Doubt it. Usually the SPs don't care (seemingly) about the customers locked into contract and will likely only work with those who are new to them.
